FDUV \u2013 Inclusion Finland and TAMH \u2013 Tanzania Association of the Intellectually Handicapped are recruiting a project coordinator for the project\u00a0Social and Economic Inclusion of People with Intellectual Disabilities and their Families in Tanzania.
\nThe project aims for inclusion in all aspects of life for persons with intellectual disabilities (PWID) and their families. The key issue addressed is the marginalization of PWID who often lack access to basic human rights like education, work, or equal participation in society, and face stigma and discrimination.
\nThe project supports TAMH through three core steps: capacity building, empowerment, and advocacy. The desired outcome is to strengthen TAMH\u2019s organizational capacity, empower PWID and their families, and boost member\u2019s efforts to advocate for disability inclusion and rights nationally and locally. The employment of a Project Coordinator is a crucial first step in strengthening the capacity of TAMH, which currently has no staff.
\nInformation about the project
\nProject Name:\u00a0Social and Economic Inclusion of People with Intellectual Disabilities and their Families in Tanzania [Pilot].
\nLocation:\u00a0Tanzania, based in the project area covering Dar Es Salaam and Coast region. Office in Dar Es Salaam.
\nProject Duration: This is a two-year pilot project for 2026\u20132027, with a plan to continue the project for a longer term. The coordinator is employed until December 2027 with the possibility for 2-year extension if the project continues.
\nBudget:\u00a0The project has a budget of 40,000 \u20ac per year.
\nKey responsibilities
\nThe Project Coordinator will be essential in implementing the project activities and restoring the organizational strength of TAMH. Key duties include:
\n1. Organizational and Financial Management:<\/p>\n
Overseeing the employment of staff, including managing a newly employed part-time accountant.
\nOrganize and participate in board meetings and trainings for staff and the TAMH board on organizational skills and project and financial management.
\nProviding clear and transparent Reports on the implementation of the Project and ensuring \u00a0bookkeeping, Audits, and Financial Reports are produced, adhering to DPF standards (in collaboration with the accountant).
\nDeveloping a new strategy for TAMH with the board and preparing it for General Assembly approval (if the project continues).<\/p>\n
2. Programme Implementation and Coordination:<\/p>\n
Facilitating the project\u2019s three core components: capacity development, empowerment of members, and advocacy.
\nOrganizing peer support-group meetings for PWID and their families.
\nManaging and overseeing project trainings, including disability rights workshops and advocacy trainings (two or three per region), often involving external experts and facilitators.
\nEnsuring the project follows the Outcomes and Outputs outlined in the Project Result Framework.
\nParticipating in networks, steering committees, and other meetings concerning disability issues.<\/p>\n
3. Monitoring and Communication:<\/p>\n
Being responsible for data collection and monitoring systems, which are currently lacking within TAMH.
\nCollaborating with the FDUV Project Coordinator in Finland via regular meetings to monitor project progress.
\nReaching out to media and communication outlets together with the Board of TAMH.
\nPrinting and sharing informational materials about TAMH and the project.<\/p>\n
Education
\nBachelor or similar degree; major in Project Management, Administration Management, Community Development, Social Sciences or a related field.
\nRequired Inputs and Skills
\nThe ideal candidate should have good organizational skills and experience in project management; monitoring, implementing and reporting. Prior experience in working with project coordination, community-based work or NGOs. Fluency in spoken and written English, good Swahili. Experience in advocating for disability rights is highly beneficial, as this is the main focus of the project\u2019s advocacy work.
