\nDeputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs
\nRuaha Catholic University (RUCU) seeks to appoint the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs who is either from within or outside the United Republic of Tanzania.
\nInstitutional Catholic Background
\nRUCU is a full-fledged University since 2014. It is located in Iringa Municipality, the Southern Highlands in the United Republic of Tanzania. The University is established and owned by the Tanzania Episcopal Conference (TEC) as a private-secular University open for all eligible people regardless of nationality, ethnicity, gender, religion, political affiliation or station in life.
\nThe University is governed and administered in accordance with the Universities Act, 2005, TCU guidelines as well as the Catholic Church Policy on Higher Education Institutions -Ex Corde Ecclesiae- and the provisions of the Charter establishing the University. Its Motto is Academic Excellence and Moral Finesse. The University has five faculties and one institute.
\nTenure
\nThe tenure for the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs is four (4) years.
\nDuties and Responsibilities
\nThe duties of Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs shall be inter alia:<\/p>\n
To assist the Vice Chancellor in the performance of his\/her duties and in that regard be responsible for the academic affairs of the University.
\nIn the absence of the Vice Chancellor, shall perform the functions of the Vice Chancellor.
\nTo perform such other functions that may be delegated to him or her by the Vice Chancellor.
\nTo provide a day-to-day academic leadership and co-ordination of research and community service\/outreach.
\nTo ensure effective and efficient implementation of policies on teaching and research in order to maintain academic standards of the University.
\nTo evaluate curricula offered by the University and proposing reforms in accordance with national education policies and job market requirements.
\nTo oversee quality assurance in the University.
\nTo plan and supervise services, research and training activities of the University.
\nTo direct and supervise senior management team responsible for academic and related functions.
\nTo implement academic policies, directives and decisions of the University Council in order to achieve desired outcomes.
\nTo perform any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Vice Chancellor, Senate and Council.<\/p>\n
Qualifications
\nThe applicant should be at the rank of either an associate professor or a professor with leadership experience in University leadership.
\nRemuneration
