CVM works closely with its Irish sister organization, APA \u2013 A Partnership with Africa, to support development initiatives through advocacy, resource mobilization, and international cooperation. Active in Tanzania since 2002, CVM initially focused on HIV\/AIDS prevention and later expanded its work to address women\u2019s rights, gender equality, and the empowerment of marginalized groups. Its programs primarily support poor women, widows, bar and domestic workers, and vulnerable children affected by abuse and child labour.<br \/>\nThe\u00a0African Children Project\u00a0aims to support the protection, psychosocial recovery, and school reintegration of vulnerable children aged 7\u201318, with particular focus on girls in selected regions of Tanzania.<br \/>\nMany of these girls have experienced psychological distress, trauma, exploitation, neglect, and prolonged absence from formal education, which significantly affects their well-being and learning capacity. Psychosocial support is therefore a key component of the project to ensure successful and sustainable reintegration into school and community life.<\/p>\n<p>Within this framework, the project seeks to recruit two qualified psychologists to provide specialized psychosocial support services to beneficiary girls and contribute to the overall child protection strategy.<\/p>\n<p>Objective of the Assignment<\/p>\n<p>The main objective of this assignment is to provide psychosocial assessment, counseling, and ongoing psychological support to vulnerable girls enrolled in the project, in order to:<\/p>\n<p>Improve their emotional well-being and resilience<br \/>\nAddress trauma, stress, and behavioral challenges<br \/>\nSupport their readiness and ability to re-enter and remain in school<br \/>\nStrengthen child protection and referral mechanisms within the project<\/p>\n<p>Scope of Work and Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n<p>The psychologists will work under the supervision of the Project Facilitator and in close collaboration with Community Justice Facilitators (CJFs), Ward-CDOs, Social Walfare Officers, teachers, parents and\/or caregivers.<br \/>\nKey responsibilities include:<\/p>\n<p>a) Psychosocial Assessment<\/p>\n<p>Conduct individual psychosocial assessments of beneficiary girls<br \/>\nIdentify emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs<br \/>\nContribute to the development of individualized support plans<\/p>\n<p>b) Psychosocial Support and Counseling<\/p>\n<p>Provide individual and group counseling sessions, using child-friendly and trauma-informed approaches<br \/>\nAddress issues related to trauma, abuse, neglect, anxiety, low self-esteem, and school adaptation<br \/>\nSupport girls during the transition and reintegration into school<br \/>\nPromote peer-to peer education<\/p>\n<p>c) Capacity Building and Coordination<\/p>\n<p>Work closely with Local Governement representatives, teachers, and caregivers to ensure a coordinated approach<br \/>\nProvide basic guidance and orientation to project staff on child psychological well-being and psychosocial support<br \/>\nParticipate in case management meetings and referrals to specialized services when required<\/p>\n<p>Contribute to the organization and delivery of training sessions and meetings as per the project POA<br \/>\nSupport the coordination of project-related activities, ensuring alignment between psychosocial support, educational reintegration, and child protection components.<br \/>\nWork closely with the project team to ensure effective communication and collaboration among all actors involved in the implementation of psychosocial and protection activities.<br \/>\nParticipate in coordination meetings and contribute to planning and implementation of project activities as required.<\/p>\n<p>d) Monitoring and Reporting<\/p>\n<p>Maintain confidential case files in line with child protection and data protection standards<br \/>\nPrepare periodic progress reports on psychosocial activities and outcomes<br \/>\nContribute to project monitoring, evaluation, and learning activities<\/p>\n<p>e) Case Management, Child Profiles and Data Management<\/p>\n<p>Maintain and regularly update\u00a0individual child profiles, including psychosocial assessments, support plans, and follow-up information.<br \/>\nContribute to the\u00a0management and updating of the project database, ensuring accurate, timely, and secure data entry related to beneficiary children.<br \/>\nEnsure that all child-related data is handled in compliance with\u00a0data protection, confidentiality, and child safeguarding policies.<br \/>\nSupport case management processes by providing psychosocial inputs and documentation as required.<\/p>\n<p>Deliverables<\/p>\n<p>Psychosocial assessments and related documentation for beneficiary girls<br \/>\nIndividual psychosocial support plans and follow-up records<br \/>\nUpdated and confidential child profiles<br \/>\nAccurate and regularly updated project database entries<br \/>\nContributions to the organization and delivery of training sessions<br \/>\nInputs to the coordination of project-related activities<br \/>\nPeriodic activity and progress reports<br \/>\nQualitative inputs to monitoring and evaluation processes<br \/>\nDocumentation and referrals for cases requiring specialized or external services<\/p>\n<p>Duration and Duty Station<\/p>\n<p>Duration: 12 months contract renewable<br \/>\nDuty station:<\/p>\n<p>Bagamoyo, with frequent field visits to Chalinze<\/p>\n<p>Qualifications and Experience<\/p>\n<p>Required Qualifications<\/p>\n<p>Bachelor\u2019s or Master\u2019s degree in Psychology (Clinical, Counseling, or Educational Psychology preferred)<br \/>\nProved 2-3years experience in psychosocial support, counseling, or child-focused programs<br \/>\nExperience working with children and adolescents, preferably in vulnerable or marginalized contexts<br \/>\nBasic knowledge of child protection principles and psychosocial support approaches<br \/>\nFamiliarity with trauma-informed and child-friendly methodologies is an advantage<br \/>\nAbility to maintain confidential case files and contribute to data collection and database management<br \/>\nGood communication and interpersonal skills<br \/>\nAbility to work as part of a multidisciplinary team<br \/>\nFluency in Swahili; working knowledge of English<\/p>\n<p>8.Safeguarding, Protection, and Gender Equality:<\/p>\n<p>The psychologists are expected to adhere to the highest standards of child safeguarding, protection, and gender equality. All activities must be conducted in line with the project\u2019s safeguarding policies, national legislation, and international child rights standards. This includes ensuring confidentiality, informed consent, and a child-centered approach at all times, as well as promptly reporting any protection concerns through established referral mechanisms.
