Finance and Operations Assistant \u2013 Uwezo Tanzania
\nJob overview\u00a0This position supports the finance and operations unit at Uwezo Tanzania. The role involves a mix of accounting tasks, financial reporting, compliance activities, and general office operations. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of the responsible officer and the Executive Director, while taking initiative to grow professionally.
\nQualifications<\/p>\n
Bachelor\u2019s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field from a recognized institution
\nAt least 1 year of experience performing accounting-related functions in any organization
\nProficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
\nKnowledge of Xero accounting software is an added advantage
\nFlexibility to adapt to new situations, along with confidence and creative thinking
\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Swahili<\/p>\n
General responsibilities\u00a0Support the finance and operations unit as directed by the supervisor and Executive Director, while proactively seeking opportunities for professional development.
\nSpecific finance tasks<\/p>\n
Record receipts and payments in Xero accounting software
\nAssist with budget preparation and review to support key organizational decisions
\nHelp prepare financial reports, including bank reconciliations, donor reports, and cash flow statements
\nManage staff imprest processes
\nSupport organization asset management
\nProvide assistance before and during financial audits
\nCommunicate with stakeholders such as suppliers and partners
\nEnsure compliance with statutory authorities (TRA, NSSF, WCF) by preparing and remitting taxes and contributions
\nContribute to the organization\u2019s fundraising initiatives
\nCarry out any other finance-related tasks assigned by the supervisor<\/p>\n
Specific operations tasks<\/p>\n
Help manage learning sessions and staff meetings, ensuring they occur as scheduled and drafting minutes
\nAssist in preparing Registrar quarterly and annual reports
\nSupport the generation of contracts
\nAid in coordinating the recruitment process
\nHandle daily office operations, including maintaining office supplies and supervising cleanliness<\/p>\n
