\nJob Purpose
\nThe Heavy Duty Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy-duty vehicles and equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation. This role supports uninterrupted operations by minimizing downtime and ensuring all equipment meets safety and performance standards.

\nKey Duties and Responsibilities<\/p>\n
Inspect, diagnose, and repair heavy-duty trucks, buses, trailers, construction machinery, and related equipment.
\nPerform preventive and corrective maintenance in line with manufacturer specifications and company maintenance schedules.
\nDiagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical faults using appropriate diagnostic tools.
\nRepair or replace engines, transmissions, axles, braking systems, suspensions, steering systems, and electrical components.
\nConduct routine servicing such as oil changes, lubrication, filter replacement, and system adjustments.
\nTest equipment after repairs to ensure proper functionality and compliance with safety standards.
\nMaintain accurate maintenance records, job cards, and service reports.
\nEnsure compliance with workplace health, safety, and environmental regulations at all times.
\nIdentify potential equipment issues and recommend corrective actions or improvements.
\nCoordinate with supervisors to plan maintenance activities and minimize equipment downtime.
\nMaintain cleanliness, organization, and proper use of workshop tools and equipment.
\nProvide on-the-job guidance to junior mechanics or apprentices, when required.
\nRespond to breakdowns and emergency repairs, including field or roadside assistance when necessary.
\nInspect, diagnose, and repair heavy-duty equipment including: o\u00a0Port machinery:\u00a0Reach stackers, forklifts, skid steer loaders, overhead cranes<\/p>\n
o \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Construction machinery:\u00a0Excavators, motor graders, wheel loaders, bulldozers etc.

\nQualifications and Experience<\/p>\n
Certificate or Diploma in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Heavy Equipment Mechanics.
\nMinimum of [3\u20135] years\u2019 experience as a Heavy Duty Mechanic or in a similar role.
\nProven experience working with heavy-duty trucks, construction equipment, or industrial machinery.
\nValid driving license; heavy vehicle license is an added advantage.
\nExperience working with port machinery (such as reach stackers, forklifts, and terminal handling equipment) will be an added advantage<\/p>\n

\nSkills and Competencies<\/p>\n
Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
\nGood knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems.
\nAbility to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
\nHigh level of attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
\nAbility to work independently with minimal supervision.
\nGood communication and teamwork skills.
\nPhysical stamina and ability to work in demanding environments.<\/p>\n
