Job Title: Land Surveyors
\nReporting to:\u00a0Highway Engineer \/ Project Manager
\nJob Summary
\nThe Land Surveyor is responsible for conducting accurate land and construction surveys to support project planning, design implementation, and construction activities. The role ensures that all project works are properly set out and aligned with approved engineering drawings, specifications, and benchmarks. The Land Surveyor will also assist the Highway Engineer in the measurement and verification of completed works.
\nKey Responsibilities<\/p>\n
Survey Control and Benchmark Establishment<\/p>\n
Establish, set up, and maintain\u00a0survey control points, beacons, and benchmarks\u00a0for the project.
\nVerify the accuracy and stability of survey control points throughout the project duration. \uf0b7 Ensure all benchmarks are clearly recorded and properly documented.<\/p>\n
Ground Measurements and Site Surveys<\/p>\n
Conduct\u00a0topographical surveys and ground measurements\u00a0prior to commencement of excavation or construction works.
\nTake\u00a0post-excavation measurements\u00a0to verify excavation depths, volumes, and compliance with design specifications.
\nCollect and record accurate field data using surveying instruments.<\/p>\n
Setting Out of Works<\/p>\n
Carry out\u00a0setting out of works\u00a0including roads, drainage structures, bridges, culverts, and other infrastructure elements according to approved drawings.
\nEnsure correct alignment, levels, and positioning of construction works.
\nProvide guidance to site teams to ensure construction activities follow survey markings.<\/p>\n
Measurement and Verification of Works<\/p>\n
Assist the\u00a0Highway Engineer\u00a0in the\u00a0measurement and verification of completed works\u00a0for progress reporting and certification.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
Support the preparation of quantity measurements for payment certificates and project records.
\nVerify that completed works match the approved designs and project specifications.<\/p>\n
Documentation and Reporting<\/p>\n
Maintain detailed\u00a0survey records, field notes, and measurement data.
\nPrepare survey reports, sketches, and data summaries as required by the project team.
\nEnsure all survey information is properly stored and available for review or audit.<\/p>\n
Equipment Management<\/p>\n
Operate and maintain survey equipment including\u00a0Total Stations, GPS systems, levels, and other surveying instruments\u00a0& ensure instruments are calibrated and functioning correctly.<\/p>\n
Required Qualifications:<\/p>\n
Bachelor\u2019s Degree of Science in Land Surveying\u00a0or related discipline.
\nProfessional registration or eligibility for registration with a recognized surveying body is an added advantage.
\nMinimum\u00a03\u20135 years of professional experience\u00a0in land surveying, preferably within\u00a0road, highway, or infrastructure construction projects.
\nDemonstrated experience in\u00a0construction setting out and topographical surveys.
\nExperience using modern survey equipment such as\u00a0Total Stations, GPS, and digital leveling instruments.<\/p>\n
Key Skills and Competencies<\/p>\n
Strong understanding of\u00a0surveying techniques and land measurement principles.
\nAbility to interpret\u00a0engineering drawings and construction plans.
\nHigh level of\u00a0accuracy and attention to detail.
\nGood analytical and problem-solving skills.
