\nThe Data Clerk will be responsible for collecting, recording, verifying, and maintaining accurate market data during the tobacco buying season. The role ensures all farmer deliveries, grading results, payments, and related records are accurately captured in company systems and registers.
\nKey Responsibilities<\/p>\n
Capture and record farmer delivery data accurately into the system or registers.
\nVerify the accuracy of data received from graders, weighbridge operators, and market officials.
\nMaintain organized and updated records of tobacco deliveries and transactions.
\nAssist in preparing daily market reports and summaries.
\nEnsure all documents are properly filed and stored for reference and auditing.
\nReport any data discrepancies or errors to the Market Supervisor immediately.
\nSupport the market team in administrative and documentation tasks.
\nEnsure confidentiality and security of company and farmer data.
\nAssist in data reconciliation at the end of each market day.<\/p>\n
Qualifications and Requirements<\/p>\n
Certificate or Diploma in Information Technology, Business Administration, Records Management, Statistics, or related field.
\nAt least 1 year experience in data entry, clerical work, or administrative support (experience in agricultural markets is an added advantage).
\nProficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and basic computer applications.
\nGood typing speed and accuracy in data entry.
\nStrong attention to detail and ability to work with numbers.
\nAbility to work under pressure during peak market periods.
\nGood communication and teamwork skills.
\nHigh level of integrity and confidentiality.<\/p>\n

\nTOBACCO LEAF CHECKER
\nJob Purpose
\nThe Tobacco Leaf Checker is responsible for inspecting, grading, and verifying the quality and quantity of tobacco leaves purchased from farmers at the buying point or warehouse. The role ensures that all tobacco delivered meets the company\u2019s quality standards and grading specifications.
\nKey Duties and Responsibilities<\/p>\n
Inspect tobacco leaves delivered by farmers at buying centers or warehouses.
\nCheck and verify quality, grade, moisture content, and condition of tobacco leaves according to company standards.
\nEnsure tobacco bales are properly classified, graded, and recorded.
\nConfirm that the weight and quantity of tobacco correspond with documentation.
\nIdentify and separate damaged, moldy, or substandard leaves.
\nEnsure compliance with company quality control procedures and policies.
\nRecord inspection results and maintain accurate documentation of purchases.
\nWork closely with buyers, graders, and warehouse staff during tobacco receiving and handling.
\nReport any quality issues, irregularities, or suspected fraud to the supervisor.
\nEnsure proper stacking, storage, and handling of tobacco to prevent damage.
\nMaintain cleanliness and order at the buying station or warehouse.
\nFollow health and safety procedures during operations.<\/p>\n
Qualifications and Requirements<\/p>\n
Education: Certificate or Diploma in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Crop Production, or related field (secondary education may be considered with relevant experience).
\nExperience: Previous experience in tobacco buying, grading, or leaf handling is an added advantage.
\nKnowledge of tobacco leaf grades and quality standards is preferred.
\nAbility to identify defects, moisture levels, and quality variations in tobacco leaves.
\nGood record-keeping and basic numeracy skills.
\nAbility to work under pressure during the marketing season.
\nStrong integrity and attention to detail.
\nGood communication and teamwork skills.
\nPhysically fit and able to work in warehouse or field environments.<\/p>\n
