Sayuni Capital is a private credit fund providing growth capital to profitable SMEs in Kenya and Tanzania, with a focus on businesses led by local and female entrepreneurs.
\nRole Overview
\nAs an Investment Intern, you will support the investment team, gaining hands-on experience in deal evaluation and execution. Your responsibilities will also include streamlining internal operations and building the visibility of the Sayuni Capital brand in the market.
\nKey Responsibilities
\nPipeline Development:<\/p>\n
Conduct outreach to potential companies to develop pipeline for investment.
\nInitiate conversations with potential borrowers and attend relevant industry and ecosystem events.
\nSupport the team in developing a program for female-owned SMEs in Tanzania.<\/p>\n

\nInvestment Analysis & Due Diligence:<\/p>\n
Assist in screening companies against Sayuni\u2019s investment criteria: reviewing financial information and conducting credit risk assessments.
\nConduct industry and market research to support investment decisions.
\nSupport in the preparation of teasers and credit memorandums, including participating in borrower calls\/site visits.<\/p>\n

\nMarket Research:<\/p>\n
Research on Sayuni\u2019s target sectors in Kenya and Tanzania.
\nTrack sectoral trends (regulatory, macroeconomic, and competitor activity) that impact SMEs.<\/p>\n

\nMedia & Events:<\/p>\n
Managing Sayuni\u2019s LinkedIn and other social media platforms.
\nMonitor engagement metrics and suggest improvements to enhance online presence.
\nResearch and implement best practices for digital branding.
\nRepresent Sayuni Capital at relevant events (when required).<\/p>\n
Other support:<\/p>\n
Support fundraising initiatives.
\nAssist with other business needs that may arise from time to time.<\/p>\n
Candidate profile
\nRequired:<\/p>\n
Bachelor\u2019s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, Engineering, or a related quantitative field, with a minimum of a Second Class Upper (or equivalent) academic performance.
\nStrong understanding of financial statements and basic accounting principles.
\nDemonstrated analytical ability.
\nAdvanced excel skills.
\nHigh attention to detail and ability to work with numbers independently.
\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.<\/p>\n
Preferred:<\/p>\n
Prior exposure to credit analysis, consulting, banking, or investment roles.
\nBasic financial modelling skills.
\nInterest in private credit or SME finance.<\/p>\n
