\nKey Purpose\u00a0of this role is for maintaining, repairing, fabricating, and installing mechanical equipment and structures. The role includes performing welding work, diagnosing mechanical faults, and ensuring machinery operates safely and efficiently. The artisan must follow safety procedures and support maintenance activities to minimize downtime.
\nKey Roles and Responsibilities:
\n\u00a0
\nSafety & Compliance<\/p>\n
Adhere strictly to workplace health and safety regulations.
\nUse proper PPE and ensure safe welding practices.
\nMaintain housekeeping standards in work areas.
\nFollow lockout\/tagout (LOTOTO) & all safety procedures during specific maintenance.<\/p>\n
Mechanical Maintenance & Repairs<\/p>\n
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment and machinery.
\nDiagnose faults and carry out repairs on pumps, motors, conveyors, gearboxes, valves, and related systems.
\nDismantle, inspect, repair, and reassemble mechanical components.
\nEnsure all maintenance work meets safety and quality standards.<\/p>\n
Welding & Fabrication<\/p>\n
Perform welding using methods such as MIG, TIG, Arc, and Gas welding.
\nFabricate and install steel structures, brackets, frames, piping, and equipment supports.
\nRead and interpret welding drawings and technical blueprints.
\nConduct cutting, grinding, and fitting of metal components.
\nInspect welded surfaces and structures to ensure structural integrity.<\/p>\n
Installation & Commissioning<\/p>\n
Assist in installation of new machinery and mechanical systems.
\nAlign and level equipment during installation.
\nSupport commissioning and testing of mechanical equipment.<\/p>\n
Inspection & Troubleshooting<\/p>\n
Conduct routine inspections of mechanical systems.
\nIdentify wear, misalignment, vibration issues, and abnormal noises.
\nReport potential failures and recommend corrective actions<\/p>\n
Documentation & Reporting<\/p>\n
Maintain maintenance records and service logs.
\nReport completed work and materials used.
\nAssist in preparing maintenance schedules and reports.<\/p>\n

\nTeam<\/p>\n
Work closely with electricians, technicians, and supervisors.
\nProvide technical support during breakdowns.
\nMentor junior artisans or apprentices where required.<\/p>\n
Required Skills & Competencies:<\/p>\n
Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills.
\nProficiency in welding and metal fabrication.
\nAbility to read mechanical drawings and schematics.
\nKnowledge of workshop tools and measuring instruments.
\nGood problem-solving and communication skills.
\nAbility to work independently and under pressure.<\/p>\n
Minimum Qualification:<\/p>\n
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification from a recognized institution.<\/p>\n
