The organization is committed to empowering people with disabilities and their families, improving their quality of life, and ensuring access to medical and rehabilitative treatment. CCBRT prevents lifelong disabilities wherever possible and is actively engaged in extensive maternal and newborn healthcare (MNHC) activities, including obstetric fistula repairs. Its Maternity and Newborn Wing serves as a referral centre for high-risk and emergency deliveries in the Dar es Salaam region and the Eastern Zone of Tanzania.

\nRole Summary In order to strengthen the Eye unit, CCBRT is looking for a dynamic Eye Specialist interested in medical and surgical care of patients in the Ophthalmology Department.
\nKey Responsibilities<\/p>\n
Provide quality medical and surgical care to patients in the Ophthalmology unit of the General Surgery Department at CCBRT.
\nOperate in the Outpatient Department (OPD), Inpatient Department (IPD), and Operating Theatre Department (OTD).
\nProvide quality clinical services, which include but are not limited to:<\/p>\n
Attending OPD clinics (as necessary) for screening eye clients.
\nReviewing patients presented by junior doctors for specialized opinion.
\nConducting eye surgeries.
\nParticipating in on-call duties when applicable.
\nParticipating in ward rounds.
\nExamining patients and assisting in making decisions for patients scheduled for operation.
\nSupervising junior doctors at OPD and in the ward.
\nAttending and receiving the morning briefing report every day or as may be scheduled.
\nOffering expert specialized opinion to all patients who might need the service in the department and other departments when requested for consultation.
\nContributing to marketing CCBRT eye services.
\nParticipating in clinical audits, clinical research, and providing medical legal advice whenever needed.
\nBeing involved in developing disease guidelines, protocols, and standard operating procedures for eye services.
\nEnsuring quality of medical data.
\nContributing to the establishment of a learning & research culture at CCBRT.<\/p>\n
Candidate Requirements<\/p>\n
Master Degree in Medicine with specialization in Ophthalmology from a recognized institution.
\nRegistered by the Medical Council of Tanganyika as MMED in Ophthalmology.
\nAt least 3 years\u2019 experience as a surgeon.
\nCompetent to perform all medical and invasive procedures relevant for the area of practice.
\nStrong planning skills and a methodological approach to problem solving.
\nEffective counseling skills.
\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills (both English and Swahili).
\nExcellent interpersonal skills.
\nComputer literate.
\nHas a valid (2026) practitioner license.
\nA pro-active attitude and eagerness to work.<\/p>\n
