From 2008 to 2019, Thamini Uhai worked with Bloomberg Philanthropies to expand quality Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care services and, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Local Government Authorities, piloted and scaled birth companionship as a core element of respectful maternity care across 27 health facilities in Kigoma, Katavi, Geita, and Mwanza Regions.<br \/>\nPartnership Program for Maternal and Newborn Health Improvement in Tanzania<br \/>\nThamini Uhai has received funding for implementation of\u00a0Partnership Program for Comprehensive and Integrated Maternal and Newborn Health Improvement (Mjamzito na Mtoto Salama)\u00a0in Tanzania. This is a five-year program implemented in 3 regions of Tanzania Mainland. The initiative is jointly supported by Bloomberg Philanthropies and the Gates Foundation and will be implemented in two phases from September 2025 to June 2027 and from July 2027 to June 2030 in Geita, Katavi and Kigoma regions. The program will contribute to accelerating 2030 SDG targets through improving maternal and newborn health outcomes in Tanzania by strengthening the delivery of quality and respectful Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (EmONC)- including the postpartum hemorrhage (PPH), antenatal care, and comprehensive newborn care, with a particular emphasis on scaling up care for small and sick newborns.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nThe initiative will also provide strategic technical support to the Ministry of Health in reviewing technical guidelines and associated learning resources. In this regard, Thamini Uhai wishes to recruit the following positions:<br \/>\nProgram and Finance Assistant (Two Positions)<br \/>\nDEPARTMENT:\u00a0\u00a0Finance and Operations<br \/>\nREPORTS TO:\u00a0 Regional Program Coordinator (with dotted lines to the Finance Manager)<br \/>\nASSIGNMENT TYPE:\u00a0 Full-time<br \/>\nLOCATION:\u00a0\u00a0Geita and Katavi<br \/>\nCONTRACT LENGTH:\u00a0One year (with possibility of extension)<br \/>\nPOSITION SUMMARY:<br \/>\nUnder the supervision of the\u00a0Regional Program Coordinator, the Program and Finance Assistant\u00a0supports both programmatic and financial functions of the program by ensuring efficient project implementation, accurate financial management, compliance with donor requirements, and proper documentation.<\/p>\n<p>Main Duties and responsibilities<\/p>\n<p>Program Support\u00a0\u00b7 Assist in planning, coordination, and implementation of program activities and interventions \u00b7 Coordinate field activities, including community outreach and stakeholder engagement<\/p>\n<p>Support communication with partners, beneficiaries, and local authorities \u00b7 Support preparation of work plans, budgets, and activity schedules.<br \/>\nCoordinate logistics for trainings, workshops, and field activities.<br \/>\nSupport monitoring and evaluation activities, including data collection and reporting.<br \/>\nSupport in preparation of program narrative reports for donors and management.<br \/>\nEnsure proper documentation and filing of all program records.<\/p>\n<p>Financial Management Support<\/p>\n<p>Assist in preparation and monitoring of Regional office program budget. \u00b7 Coordinate payments, including staff advances, vendor payments, and reimbursements.<br \/>\nMaintain proper financial documentation and filing systems.<br \/>\nMaintain Regional Office Petty Cash.<br \/>\nEnsure compliance with organizational financial policies and donor regulations.<\/p>\n<p>Administrative Support<\/p>\n<p>Maintain organized filing systems (both physical and electronic).<br \/>\nMonitor and schedule routine and as needed maintenance and repair services for major equipment items<br \/>\nPrepare meeting minutes and follow up on action points.<br \/>\nManage front desk<br \/>\nMaintain Regional Office asset registers and inventory records.<br \/>\nMaintain a just-in-time style consumable inventory register\/ trackers to ensure adequate and appropriate consumable inventory and utility levels<br \/>\nEnsure Regional office is equipped with the necessary supplies, materials, equipment and other resources needed for a functioning office.<br \/>\nCoordinate travel arrangements and logistics for staff and program activities. \u00b7 Schedule and assign drivers for meetings, site visits, and other program travel \u00b7 Assist in procurement processes in line with organizational policies.<br \/>\nProvide support to receiving deliveries of supplies and materials by confirming goods receipt against invoice or contract specifications<br \/>\nEstablish and maintain the key and access management system to safeguard office spaces and assets.<br \/>\nAssist in preparation of purchase requests.<\/p>\n<p>Required Qualifications<\/p>\n<p>Bachelor\u2019s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Project Management, or related field.<br \/>\nAt least 2\u20133 years of relevant experience, preferably in an NGO environment.<br \/>\nBasic knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.<br \/>\nExperience in donor-funded projects is an added advantage.<br \/>\nExcellent written and oral communication skills in English and Kiswahili Languages<br \/>\nGood Microsoft Computer knowledge.
