\nPOSITION OVERVIEW
\nThe Procurement and Logistics Officer is responsible for managing the end-to-end procurement process and ensuring efficient logistics operations. This role involves sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, managing inventory, and coordinating transportation to meet organizational objectives while adhering to budgetary and regulatory requirements.
\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES<\/p>\n
Procurement Management<\/p>\n
Source, evaluate, and select suppliers\/vendors for goods, services, and equipment.
\nPrepare and issue\u00a0Request for Quotations (RFQs),\u00a0Request for Proposals (RFPs), and purchase orders.
\nNegotiate terms, pricing, and contracts to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality.
\nMaintain supplier relationships and monitor performance (delivery timelines, quality, compliance).
\nEnsure procurement activities comply with company policies, local laws, and international standards (e.g., PPRA in Tanzania).<\/p>\n
Inventory and Logistics Coordination<\/p>\n
Manage inventory levels to prevent stockouts or overstocking.
\nCoordinate transportation, warehousing, and distribution of goods.
\nTrack shipments and resolve delays or customs-related issues.
\nOptimize logistics routes and costs for timely delivery.
\nMaintain accurate records of inventory, shipments, and procurement transactions.<\/p>\n
Compliance and Reporting<\/p>\n
Ensure adherence to procurement laws (e.g., Tanzania\u2019s\u00a0Public Procurement Act), safety standards, and ethical practices.
\nPrepare procurement reports, budgets, and cost analyses for management review.
\nConduct regular audits of procurement and logistics processes.<\/p>\n
Cross-Functional Collaboration<\/p>\n
Liaise with departments (e.g., operations, finance, HR) to align procurement with project needs.
\nSupport tender processes and contract management.
\nAssist in disaster recovery planning for supply chain disruptions.<\/p>\n
QUALIFICATIONS<\/p>\n
Education: Bachelor\u2019s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
\nExperience: Minimum 3\u20135 years in procurement\/logistics, preferably in mining, construction, or heavy machinery industries.
\nCertifications:<\/p>\n
Certified Procurement and Supply Professional (CIPS) or equivalent.
\nCertification in Logistics\/Supply Chain Management (e.g., CSCP) is an added value.<\/p>\n
Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP), MS Office, and inventory management software.<\/p>\n
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES<\/p>\n
Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
\nExcellent organizational and time management abilities.
\nKnowledge of local\/international procurement regulations and customs procedures.
\nAbility to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
\nFluency in English and Swahili; additional languages are a plus.<\/p>\n
WORKING CONDITIONS<\/p>\n
Office-based with occasional site visits or supplier meetings.
\nMay require travel to remote locations or extended hours during peak procurement cycles.<\/p>\n
