\nA Dental Therapist provides preventive and basic restorative dental care to patients, with a strong focus on oral health promotion, disease prevention, and treatment of common dental conditions.
\nThe role involves working under the supervision of, or in collaboration with, a dentist to help improve access to dental services within communities.
\nKey Responsibilities
\nThe Dental Therapist will be responsible for performing the following duties:<\/p>\n
Examine patients\u2019 oral health and identify dental problems.
\nPerform routine dental treatments, including:<\/p>\n
Filling cavities.
\nScaling and polishing teeth.
\nTooth extractions for primary or simple cases.
\nApplying fluoride treatments and sealants.<\/p>\n
Take and interpret dental X-rays.
\nEducate patients on oral hygiene and preventive dental care.
\nDevelop treatment plans within the approved scope of practice.
\nAssist in managing dental emergencies.
\nMaintain accurate patient records and treatment notes.
\nEnsure infection prevention and sterilization procedures are properly followed.
\nWork collaboratively with dentists, dental hygienists, and other healthcare staff.
\nParticipate in community outreach and oral health education programs.<\/p>\n
Required Qualifications
\nApplicants should possess the following qualifications and skills:<\/p>\n
Diploma or degree in Dental Therapy from an accredited institution.
\nValid professional license or registration.
\nKnowledge of dental procedures and infection control.
\nGood communication and interpersonal skills.
\nAbility to work with both children and adults.
\nBasic computer and record-keeping skills.<\/p>\n
