\nMaternity Africa operates from Kivulini Maternity Centre, located outside the city of Arusha in Northern Tanzania.
\nAbout the role
\nMaternity Africa is seeking a qualified and compassionate Nurse-midwife to provide high-standard maternal nursing care to vulnerable pregnant women.<\/p>\n
The role involves supporting women during antenatal care, delivery, postnatal care and birth injury treatment, including fistula surgeries.
\nThe ideal candidate should demonstrate professionalism in midwifery, strong competence in managing obstetric emergencies, and a caring approach when interacting with women under care. The role also offers continuous learning, skill development and career growth opportunities through local and international mentors and training programmes.
\nKey responsibilities
\nThe Nurse-midwife will be responsible for:<\/p>\n
Providing prenatal and postpartum care for pregnant women.
\nTending to patients and newborns during labour and delivery.
\nPerforming routine gynaecological care, including examinations.
\nEducating patients on parenting and family planning.
\nMaintaining patient medical records.
\nCollaborating with other healthcare professionals.
\nReferring patients to specialists when necessary.
\nTesting for and diagnosing various medical conditions.
\nProviding emotional support for expectant and new mothers.
\nAdministering vaccinations to children under 5 years.
\nProviding all types of family planning methods to mothers.
\nWriting records.
\nTutoring student midwives.
\nIdentifying high-risk pregnancies.
\nMonitoring and administering medication, injections and intravenous infusions during labour.
\nPerforming any other duties as assigned.<\/p>\n
Qualifications, skills and competencies
\nApplicants should meet the following requirements:<\/p>\n
A minimum of a Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery.
\nNursing and Midwifery registration certificates from TNMC.
\nA valid nurse practising license.
\nMinimum of 3 years\u2019 working experience, preferably in a labour ward, RCH and operating theatre.
\nCompetence in managing obstetric emergencies.
\nStrong interpersonal skills to develop professional relationships with patients.
\nMicrosoft Office skills.
\nAbility to practise compassionate care, kindness and love towards patients.
\nGood written and spoken English and Kiswahili communication skills to help patients understand their options and potential implications.
\nCollaborative and teamwork skills to work effectively with other medical care providers.<\/p>\n
