\nJob Purpose
\nSimplepay Capital Financial Services Tanzania Ltd is seeking a qualified and experienced\u00a0Senior Accountant\u00a0to manage the organization\u2019s financial records, ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain compliance with Tanzanian tax and regulatory requirements, and support management with financial analysis for informed decision-making.
\nKey Responsibilities
\nFinancial Reporting
\nThe Senior Accountant will be responsible for preparing accurate and timely financial reports in line with professional standards and company policies.
\nKey duties include:<\/p>\n
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
\nEnsure accuracy and completeness of accounting records in compliance with IFRS and company policies.
\nSupport the preparation of management reports and financial analysis.<\/p>\n
Bookkeeping and Ledger Management
\nThe role includes maintaining accurate accounting records and ensuring proper transaction classification.
\nKey duties include:<\/p>\n
Maintain general ledger accounts and ensure proper classification of transactions.
\nPost journal entries and reconcile accounts regularly.
\nEnsure all financial transactions are properly recorded in the accounting system.<\/p>\n
Accounts Payable and Receivable
\nThe Senior Accountant will oversee supplier payments, receivables, and transaction documentation.
\nKey duties include:<\/p>\n
Manage supplier payments and ensure timely settlement of invoices.
\nMonitor receivables and follow up on outstanding balances.
\nMaintain proper documentation for all financial transactions.<\/p>\n
Bank and Cash Management
\nThe role requires effective monitoring and management of company funds and cash flow.
\nKey duties include:<\/p>\n
Perform bank reconciliations regularly.
\nMonitor company cash flows and ensure proper management of funds.
\nMaintain petty cash and ensure proper accountability.<\/p>\n
Tax Compliance
\nThe Senior Accountant will ensure full compliance with tax requirements and statutory obligations in Tanzania.
\nKey duties include:<\/p>\n
Prepare and file tax returns including VAT, PAYE, Withholding Tax, and Corporate Tax in compliance with Tanzania Revenue Authority regulations.
\nEnsure timely payment of statutory obligations, including NSSF, SDL, and WCF.
\nLiaise with tax authorities during audits or inquiries.<\/p>\n
Budgeting and Financial Planning
\nThe position supports financial planning, budgeting, and performance monitoring.
\nKey duties include:<\/p>\n
Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
\nMonitor budget performance and provide variance analysis.<\/p>\n
Audit Support
\nThe Senior Accountant will support both internal and external audit processes.
\nKey duties include:<\/p>\n
Prepare schedules and documentation for internal and external audits.
\nEnsure compliance with financial regulations and company policies.<\/p>\n
Regulatory Compliance
\nThe role requires maintaining compliance with financial reporting requirements and Tanzanian laws.
\nKey duties include:<\/p>\n
Ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements under the National Board of Accountants and Auditors guidelines.
\nMaintain proper financial records in line with Tanzanian laws.<\/p>\n
Internal Controls
\nThe Senior Accountant will help strengthen financial controls and reduce financial risks.
\nKey duties include:<\/p>\n
Implement and maintain internal financial controls.
\nIdentify and mitigate financial risks.<\/p>\n
Qualifications and Experience
\nApplicants should meet the following requirements:<\/p>\n
Bachelor\u2019s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
\nProfessional certification such as CPA (T), ACCA, or equivalent recognized by the National Board of Accountants and Auditors.
\nMinimum of 3\u20135 years of accounting experience.
\nExperience with accounting software, preferably Odoo or similar systems.
\nStrong understanding of Tanzanian tax laws and financial regulations administered by the Tanzania Revenue Authority.
\nExperience working in a Microfinance Institution (MFI) or financial services company will be an added advantage.<\/p>\n
