\nFema Mining and Drilling Limited is seeking a skilled and experienced\u00a0AC Technician\u00a0to join its maintenance team.
\nThe successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting of air conditioning systems in motor vehicles, including light and heavy trucks, as well as heavy mining equipment such as excavators, drill rigs, bulldozers, loaders, and related machinery.
\nThis is a hands-on technical role that is critical to ensuring operator comfort, equipment reliability, and productivity in mining operations.
\nKey responsibilities
\nThe AC Technician will be responsible for the following duties:<\/p>\n
Diagnose, repair, and service automotive and heavy-duty air conditioning systems.
\nPerform routine maintenance on AC systems, including:<\/p>\n
Refrigerant recovery
\nEvacuation
\nRecharging
\nLeak detection<\/p>\n
Repair or replace AC system components, including:<\/p>\n
Compressors
\nCondensers
\nEvaporators
\nExpansion valves
\nHoses
\nBlowers
\nElectrical controls<\/p>\n
Service AC systems on light vehicles, mining trucks, and large heavy equipment used in drilling and mining operations.
\nConduct preventive maintenance schedules to minimize equipment downtime.
\nRead and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics, AC system diagrams, and equipment manuals.
\nTest and verify proper operation of AC systems after repairs.
\nMaintain accurate service records, job cards, and parts usage reports.
\nEnsure compliance with environmental regulations regarding refrigerant handling and disposal.
\nObserve all safety standards, especially when working with high-pressure systems and in mining environments.
\nCollaborate with mechanics and electricians for integrated equipment repairs.<\/p>\n
Qualifications and experience
\nApplicants should meet the following requirements:<\/p>\n
Certificate or Diploma in Automotive Engineering, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, or a related field.
\nMinimum of 3\u20135 years of relevant experience in AC repair, preferably in the mining, construction, or heavy equipment industry.
\nProven experience working on both light vehicles and heavy mining machinery AC systems.
\nValid refrigerant handling certificate, where applicable.
\nAbility to work in remote mining sites and under challenging conditions.<\/p>\n
Required skills and competencies
\nThe ideal candidate should have the following skills and competencies:<\/p>\n
Strong knowledge of automotive and heavy equipment AC systems, including:<\/p>\n
R134a
\nR404A
\nOther refrigerants<\/p>\n
Proficiency in using AC diagnostic tools, including:<\/p>\n
Manifold gauges
\nVacuum pumps
\nRecovery machines<\/p>\n
Good understanding of electrical systems in vehicles and heavy equipment.
\nAbility to work independently with minimal supervision.
\nStrong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
\nPhysical fitness and ability to work in dusty and hot environments.
\nBasic computer skills for maintenance software.
\nGood command of English and Swahili.<\/p>\n
