\nJob Summary:
\nThe Acting Border Manager is responsible for overseeing all staff and operations at the entry and exit borders into the DRC. The role involves ensuring the efficient and effective movement of trucks, managing customs processes, maintaining relationships with stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. The Acting Border Manager will take ownership of all border activities and provide necessary feedback and support to both internal and external stakeholders.
\nKey Responsibilities:
\n1. Truck Movement Monitoring:<\/p>\n
Monitor truck movements towards borders and ensure effective clearance.
\nSend daily tracking reports to operations and clearing agents to ensure no delays at the border.<\/p>\n
2. Customs Documentation:<\/p>\n
Receive, inspect, and submit customs documents to appropriate customs officers and clearing agents
\nEnsure documents are received, inspected, and submitted in a timely manner.
\nInspect documents for quality (cleanliness, arrangement) during exchanges at the border and brief drivers accordingly.<\/p>\n
3. Driver Management:<\/p>\n
Ensure drivers are disciplined and in full uniform while at the border.
\nPromote adherence to safety standards at the border at all times.<\/p>\n
4. Stakeholder Coordination:<\/p>\n
Develop and maintain relationships with government officials (customs, police, and immigration) and non-government officials (clearing agents) to ensure smooth border operations.
\nCoordinate with direct report lines on daily border updates.<\/p>\n
5. System Utilization:<\/p>\n
Use Alistair systems to record and document every update.
\nEnsure runners on both sides of the borders (including Kasumbalesa, Mokambo, and Sakania) utilize existing Alistair systems to monitor truck movements and provide relevant updates to internal and external stakeholders.<\/p>\n
6. Team Management:<\/p>\n
Manage and coach subordinates to ensure efficient border operations.<\/p>\n
7. Reporting and Feedback:<\/p>\n
Proactively report on all potential challenges (internal and external) that could hinder the smooth flow of trucks at the border.
\nProvide necessary feedback and support to existing and potential external\/internal stakeholders.<\/p>\n
8. Safety and Compliance:<\/p>\n
Promote adherence to safety standards at the border at all times.
\nEnsure all activities comply with company policies and procedures.<\/p>\n
9. Process Improvement:<\/p>\n
Contribute to the development and implementation of IT tools\/systems that aim at improving border efficiencies.<\/p>\n
10. Additional Duties:<\/p>\n
Perform any other duties as assigned by management.<\/p>\n
EDUCATION, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS<\/p>\n
Proven experience in logistics and border management.
\nStrong knowledge of customs processes and documentation.
\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills.
\nAbility to manage and coach a team effectively.
\nProficient in using logistics and tracking systems.
\nStrong problem-solving and reporting skills.
