S\/he is responsible for planning, implementation, personnel management, resource management, monitoring &amp; evaluation, associated stakeholder and private sector\/business community relationship management, timely and quality reporting. S\/he ensures quality of YA skills training activities\/results including as necessary coordinating external technical support\/expertise.<br \/>\nPOSITION SUMMARY:<br \/>\nThe Vocational Training Principal is the key point of responsibility for implementation of the Integral Youth Development program taking place at Skills to Live Zambia trading as Young Africa. S\/he is responsible for planning, implementation, personnel management, resource management, monitoring &amp; evaluation, associated stakeholder and private sector\/business community relationship management, timely and quality reporting. S\/he ensures quality of YA skills training activities\/results including as necessary coordinating external technical support\/expertise.<br \/>\nMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS<\/p>\n<p>Five years and above experience working in related Institutions at Management Level.<br \/>\nA clear understanding of the Vocational Education Sector and NGO experience is added advantage.<br \/>\nBachelor\u2019s degree in Education field is a minimum requirement.<br \/>\nStrong interpersonal skills and mentoring skills to work effectively with staff, students and external stakeholders.<br \/>\nA track record that demonstrates energy and creativity, and the ability to successfully prioritize and manage competing priorities.<br \/>\nDemonstrated success in planning, financial management, training supervision, report writing, and identifying and procuring technical assistance.<br \/>\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and presentation skills.<br \/>\nExperience in data processing (Microsoft Word), spreadsheet (Microsoft Excel), E-mail, and Internet browser software.<br \/>\nHave technical background in heading vocational skills training departments or an educational institution.<br \/>\nSound understanding of (TVET) sector in both national and International Context.<br \/>\nCapacity to direct TVET skills analysis with local industry and advisory bodies in order to meet the skills needed.<br \/>\nThe ability to balance competing priorities, complex situations and tight deadlines.<br \/>\nSolid understanding of all aspects of practical training assessment.<br \/>\nEstablish objectives and specify the strategies and actions to achieve these objectives.<br \/>\nKnowledge of Academic Governance, Educational Institutional<br \/>\nEffectiveness, Higher Educational Institute policies, standards, procedures and practices.<br \/>\nExcellent skills in organizational and strategic planning, supervision, independent decision making and program evaluation.<br \/>\nStrong financial acumen, prior experience with budgets and financial statements.<\/p>\n<p>RESPONSIBILITIES:<br \/>\n1. Training and Programs<\/p>\n<p>Providing leadership, direction and co-ordination within the training department.<br \/>\nDirects and coordinates vocational training programs according to TEVETA \u00a0standards ensuring that courses are complying to TEVETA<br \/>\nDevelop and maintain effective educational programs within the institution and promote the improvement of teaching and learning<br \/>\nDevote as much time as possible to the supervision of the training; observing methods of instruction and endeavouring to improve the efficiency of the teaching staff and the institution in general, ensuring the 70:30 rule is adhered to in all training programs.<br \/>\nSuggest appropriate changes in and ensure adherence to approved policies, practices and procedures within his\/her area of responsibility.<br \/>\nConduct a review of the organisation\u2019s curriculum to align with national goals and industry expectations.<br \/>\nAssist the teaching staff in the development, implementation, modifications, and selection of curriculum materials, and keep the Director informed as to any modifications in or substitution of approved courses.<br \/>\nBe responsible for the administration of the instructional supplies budget for the institution and the safe keeping of materials that belong to the training department.<br \/>\nEstablish procedures for the purpose and receipt of materials and supplies necessary to support the skills training program. Ensuring that there is a system of accounting for all materials disbursed.<br \/>\nEnsure timetables are synchronised and placed on notice boards in each workshop and classroom and a master is kept at the administration office.<br \/>\nWork in liaison with the Employment Officer to review the list of companies for the placements of students for attachment and linkages with the industry.<br \/>\nWork closely with the Programs Coordinator on all skills training programs that are donor funded and conducted outside of the training centers.<\/p>\n<p>2. Health, Safety, Centre Supervision<\/p>\n<p>Develop and foster a sense of pride and respect for center property so that the facility is an attractive place.<br \/>\nEnsure that all reasonable precautions are taken to safeguard the health and general well-being of staff and students. To this end, see that students and staff are adequately trained to make effective any plans necessary for their safety.<br \/>\nConduct fire drills as required by regulations and see that all personnel within the centres are familiar with all procedures to be followed in case of a fire. Fire exit signs shall be placed in each room.<\/p>\n<p>3. Communication<\/p>\n<p>In collaboration with Programs Coordinator, ensure training supervision activities and reporting meet donor standards, and are completed on schedule.<br \/>\nCollaborates with young people and staff to identify and resolve issues and conflict requiring discretion, diplomacy and confidentiality.<br \/>\nDevelops and facilitate as well as overseeing the development and facilitation of workshops, seminars and orientations students, staff and external constituencies<br \/>\nSupervise and guide the work of all trainers (technical and non-technical).<\/p>\n<p>4. Financial management<\/p>\n<p>Responsible for implementing activities in accordance with approved training budgets.<br \/>\nConsults with Finance and Administration Officer regarding best practices for financial administration of training taking place.<\/p>\n<p>5. Other<\/p>\n<p>Supports the Country Director in various administrative tasks.<br \/>\nTake initiative in sourcing for resource opportunities and participate in proposal development.<\/p>\n<p>RELATIONSHIPS<\/p>\n<p>Reports to Country Director.<br \/>\nCoordinates closely with programs team,<br \/>\nProvides support and interacts with the Programs team, Finance &amp; Administration team.<\/p>\n<p>Sharing is Caring!
