The Vocational Training Principal is the key point of responsibility for implementation of the Integral Youth Development program taking place at Skills to Live Zambia trading as Young Africa. S\/he is responsible for planning, implementation, personnel management, resource management, monitoring & evaluation, associated stakeholder and private sector\/business community relationship management, timely and quality reporting. S\/he ensures quality of YA skills training activities\/results including as necessary coordinating external technical support\/expertise.
\nPOSITION SUMMARY:

S\/he ensures quality of YA skills training activities\/results including as necessary coordinating external technical support\/expertise.
\nMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS<\/p>\n
Five years and above experience working in related Institutions at Management Level.
\nA clear understanding of the Vocational Education Sector and NGO experience is added advantage.
\nBachelor\u2019s degree in Education field is a minimum requirement.
\nStrong interpersonal skills and mentoring skills to work effectively with staff, students and external stakeholders.
\nA track record that demonstrates energy and creativity, and the ability to successfully prioritize and manage competing priorities.
\nDemonstrated success in planning, financial management, training supervision, report writing, and identifying and procuring technical assistance.
\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and presentation skills.
\nExperience in data processing (Microsoft Word), spreadsheet (Microsoft Excel), E-mail, and Internet browser software.
\nHave technical background in heading vocational skills training departments or an educational institution.
\nSound understanding of (TVET) sector in both national and International Context.
\nCapacity to direct TVET skills analysis with local industry and advisory bodies in order to meet the skills needed.
\nThe ability to balance competing priorities, complex situations and tight deadlines.
\nSolid understanding of all aspects of practical training assessment.
\nEstablish objectives and specify the strategies and actions to achieve these objectives.
\nKnowledge of Academic Governance, Educational Institutional
\nEffectiveness, Higher Educational Institute policies, standards, procedures and practices.
\nExcellent skills in organizational and strategic planning, supervision, independent decision making and program evaluation.
\nStrong financial acumen, prior experience with budgets and financial statements.<\/p>\n
RESPONSIBILITIES:
\n1. Training and Programs<\/p>\n
Providing leadership, direction and co-ordination within the training department.
\nDirects and coordinates vocational training programs according to TEVETA \u00a0standards ensuring that courses are complying to TEVETA
\nDevelop and maintain effective educational programs within the institution and promote the improvement of teaching and learning
\nDevote as much time as possible to the supervision of the training; observing methods of instruction and endeavouring to improve the efficiency of the teaching staff and the institution in general, ensuring the 70:30 rule is adhered to in all training programs.
\nSuggest appropriate changes in and ensure adherence to approved policies, practices and procedures within his\/her area of responsibility.
\nConduct a review of the organisation\u2019s curriculum to align with national goals and industry expectations.
\nAssist the teaching staff in the development, implementation, modifications, and selection of curriculum materials, and keep the Director informed as to any modifications in or substitution of approved courses.
\nBe responsible for the administration of the instructional supplies budget for the institution and the safe keeping of materials that belong to the training department.
\nEstablish procedures for the purpose and receipt of materials and supplies necessary to support the skills training program. Ensuring that there is a system of accounting for all materials disbursed.
\nEnsure timetables are synchronised and placed on notice boards in each workshop and classroom and a master is kept at the administration office.
\nWork in liaison with the Employment Officer to review the list of companies for the placements of students for attachment and linkages with the industry.
\nWork closely with the Programs Coordinator on all skills training programs that are donor funded and conducted outside of the training centers.<\/p>\n
2. Health, Safety, Centre Supervision<\/p>\n
Develop and foster a sense of pride and respect for center property so that the facility is an attractive place.
\nEnsure that all reasonable precautions are taken to safeguard the health and general well-being of staff and students. To this end, see that students and staff are adequately trained to make effective any plans necessary for their safety.
\nConduct fire drills as required by regulations and see that all personnel within the centres are familiar with all procedures to be followed in case of a fire. Fire exit signs shall be placed in each room.<\/p>\n
3. Communication<\/p>\n
In collaboration with Programs Coordinator, ensure training supervision activities and reporting meet donor standards, and are completed on schedule.
\nCollaborates with young people and staff to identify and resolve issues and conflict requiring discretion, diplomacy and confidentiality.
\nDevelops and facilitate as well as overseeing the development and facilitation of workshops, seminars and orientations students, staff and external constituencies
\nSupervise and guide the work of all trainers (technical and non-technical).<\/p>\n
4. Financial management<\/p>\n
Responsible for implementing activities in accordance with approved training budgets.
\nConsults with Finance and Administration Officer regarding best practices for financial administration of training taking place.<\/p>\n
5. Other<\/p>\n
Supports the Country Director in various administrative tasks.
\nTake initiative in sourcing for resource opportunities and participate in proposal development.<\/p>\n
RELATIONSHIPS<\/p>\n
Reports to Country Director.
\nCoordinates closely with programs team,
\nProvides support and interacts with the Programs team, Finance & Administration team.<\/p>\n
