PURPOSE
\nThis exciting opportunity exists within Fraser Alexander Zambia to lead and manage the mechanical fitting function by ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant planning, installation, maintenance, and repair of equipment. The role ensures optimal equipment performance, compliance with legal and safety standards, and effective utilisation of engineering resources to support operational excellence.
\nRESPONSIBILITIES
\nPlanning and Maintenance<\/p>\n
Implement maintenance schedules and procedures.
\nPlan, supervise, and perform all phases of equipment installation.
\nMaintain and repair all mechanical equipment.
\nPlan for materials (maintain a list of critical spare parts) and manpower to assist with jobs.
\nEvaluate condition monitoring reports and status.
\nIssue work schedules and job cards.
\nRaise requisitions for spare parts as required.
\nLiaise and coordinate with Engineering and Production staff.<\/p>\n
Troubleshooting and Repairs<\/p>\n
Diagnose equipment failures and schedule repairs based on production priorities and available manpower.
\nPerform fault finding on machinery and installations.
\nUtilise an established work order system to plan and organise the daily workload, assigning personnel to maximise manpower and facilities, ensuring maximum equipment availability.
\nPerform advanced repair and testing tasks requiring higher-level knowledge, skills, and abilities, and serve as a technical resource to others.<\/p>\n
SHEQ Management<\/p>\n
Ensure compliance with Fraser Alexander and client internal SHEQ systems.
\nMaintain Fraser Alexander\u2019s safety policy and procedure requirements.
\nPromote safety performance.
\nConduct risk assessments and planned task observations.
\nConduct regular safety meetings.
\nEnsure all team members wear required PPE.
\nInvestigate incidents and accidents.<\/p>\n
Cost and Asset Management\/Administration<\/p>\n
Understand financial costing and assist where possible with the administration thereof.
\nParticipate in developing and implementing cost-cutting and site improvement
\ninitiatives.
\nCommunicate with equipment suppliers to recommend updating or replacement of equipment as it becomes obsolete.
\nManage stock control efficiently.
\nMaintain a filing system for job cards.
\nPrepare standby lists.
\nCompile and submit weekly artisan utilisation reports.
\nPrepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
\nContribute effectively to scheduled meetings.<\/p>\n
Team Management<\/p>\n
Participate in the process of appointing competent and passionate personnel.
\nEnsure subordinates are trained and talent is identified and developed.
\nEnsure a positive working relationship is maintained within the team.<\/p>\n
QUALIFICATIONS<\/p>\n
Craft Certificate in Mechanical Fitting.
\nGrade Twelve (12) School Certificate.
\nRegistered member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) and Engineering Registration Board (ERB), or eligible for registration with EIZ or equivalent.<\/p>\n
EXPERIENCE<\/p>\n
Minimum of three (3) years supervisory or foreman experience managing electrical and
\nengineering teams in mining, plant processing, or industrial environments.
\nAt least 2\u20133 years of hands-on experience as an Electrical Foreman\/Supervisor or General Foreman\/Supervisor.<\/p>\n

\nComputer literacy (proficient in MS Office).
\nFunctional technical skills.
\nExcellent operational management and planning skills.
