PURPOSE
\nThis exciting opportunity exists within Fraser Alexander Zambia to lead and manage the General
\nEngineering function while also serving as the most senior Electrical Engineering specialist. The role
\nis responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant planning, installation, maintenance, and
\nrepair of all electrical systems and equipment (HT and LT). Additionally, ensures optimal equipment
\nperformance, compliance with legal and safety standards, and the effective execution of electrical
\nengineering functions to support operational excellence.
\nRESPONSIBILITIES
\nElectrical\/Mechanical Maintenance<\/p>\n
Approve work schedules and job cards prepared by the engineering Foreman, ensuring
\nalignment with maintenance priorities.
\nReview and validate condition monitoring reports to guide predictive maintenance planning.
\nApprove spares requisitions and monitor usage trends to inform stock level decisions.
\nCoordinate closely with the Engineering and Production departments to minimise operational
\ndisruptions during electrical maintenance.
\nAnalyse electrical performance data across all sites to identify quality issues, delays, and system faults, and implement mitigation plans accordingly.
\nDevelop and update maintenance procedures, safety standards, and operating methods specific to electrical systems to ensure consistency and compliance.
\nEnsure all electrical assets, including HT and LT systems, motors, and panels, are maintained in
\na safe and legally compliant condition.
\nManage engineering maintenance activities in a cost-effective manner, balancing operational
\nneeds with budgetary constraints.
\nImplement and oversee a preventive maintenance program for electrical equipment to reduce
\nunplanned downtime and extend asset life.<\/p>\n
Contract Management<\/p>\n
Interpret and implement contract requirements (relevant to electrical scope).
\nLiaise with client representatives regarding electrical performance.
\nCommunicate with clients and management on electrical repairs and site improvements.<\/p>\n
SHEQ Management<\/p>\n
Implement Fraser Alexander\u2019s Health and Safety Policy across all electrical activities, ensuring
\nalignment with both company and client-specific safety requirements.
\nLead the execution of electrical risk assessments, planned task observations, and safe work procedures.
\nEnsure all electrical inspections, logbooks, and legal appointments are maintained and compliant with statutory obligations.
\nConduct safety meetings focusing on electrical hazards and promote a proactive safety culture within the electrical team.
\nManage and report on electrical-related incidents, near-misses, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
\nAct as the technical authority to ensure all electrical work complies with internal SHEQ standards and legal frameworks, maintaining the highest level of operational integrity and safety.<\/p>\n
Cost and Asset Management<\/p>\n
Support the development of the engineering department\u2019s maintenance budget and monitor
\ncost-saving opportunities.
\nCommunicate with equipment suppliers to recommend the updating or replacement of
\nobsolete electrical equipment.<\/p>\n
Team Management<\/p>\n
Participate in the process of appointing competent and passionate electrical personnel.
\nEnsure subordinates are performance managed and talent is identified and developed.
\nEnsure a positive working relationship is maintained within the electrical team and coordinate
\nroutine and required electrical maintenance activities.<\/p>\n
QUALIFICATIONS<\/p>\n
Craft Certificate or Diploma in Electrical Engineering\/ National N6 diploma or equivalent.
\nElectrical Trade Certificate or equivalent.
\nGrade Twelve (12) School Certificate.
\nRegistered member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) or eligible for registration with EIZ or equivalent.
\nAn accredited supervisory or managerial certificate will be advantageous.<\/p>\n
EXPERIENCE<\/p>\n
Minimum of three (3) years supervisory or foreman experience managing electrical and
\nengineering teams in mining, plant processing, or industrial environments.
\nAt least 2-3 years of hands-on experience as an Electrical Foreman\/Supervisor or General
\nForeman\/Supervisor.<\/p>\n
