Role Description
\nMary Begg Health Services (MBHS) is looking for a dedicated and experienced Estates Manager to join our team and ensure our facilities are maintained to the highest standards of safety, functionality, and efficiency.
\nAs a key player in our operations, the Estates Manager will oversee all aspects of infrastructure and facilities maintenance across our healthcare sites, ensuring minimal disruption to clinical and operational services.
\nEducational Requirements<\/p>\n
Grade 12 Certificate
\nDegree in Civil Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical, Building Maintenance, or related technical field.
\nMinimum 3 years\u2019 relevant experience in facility or property maintenance, preferably in a healthcare or corporate setting.
\nMust be a member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ)<\/p>\n
Key Accountabilities
\nReporting into the General Manager, this role will be responsible for:<\/p>\n
Conduct routine inspections of buildings, facilities, and infrastructure to identify and resolve issues promptly.
\nPerform general maintenance duties including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and basic mechanical tasks.
\nRespond in a timely manner to repair requests, ensuring minimal disruption to clinical and operational services.
\nMaintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work completed, including maintenance schedules and logs.
\nCoordinate with external service providers and contractors for specialized repairs or installations.
\nEnsure compliance with health and safety regulations, reporting hazards or potential issues to the Facilities Manager.
\nSupport emergency maintenance needs outside of standard working hours, as required.
\nMonitor and manage inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment.
\nParticipate in energy conservation and sustainability initiatives, recommending cost-saving improvements.
\nAssist with setting up equipment, furniture, and fixtures for clinical and operational functions as needed.
\nProvide input to capital maintenance planning and budget forecasting.
\nMaintain compliance with health and safety regulations<\/p>\n

Technical proficiency in electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
\nStrong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
\nAttention to detail with the ability to work independently.
\nEffective interpersonal and communication skills with a customer service orientation.
\nStrong organizational skills and time management capabilities.
\nKnowledge of health and safety standards and best practices.
\nPrior experience in maintenance or facilities management is an advantage.
\nProficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant software tools<\/p>\n
General<\/p>\n
This role may require working outside regular business hours, including weekends and public holidays, to respond to urgent maintenance issues.
\nPhysical work including lifting, climbing, and operating equipment is required.

\nAbility to manage multiple responsibilities and prioritize work
\nReport to work on time and as scheduled.
\nAbility to complete work assignments accurately and in a timely manner
