\nOur client in the hospitality industry, located in Nyimba, is seeking to hire a self-motivated, dynamic, and passionate Lodge Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the lodge.
\nJob Purpose
\nThe Lodge Manager will oversee the daily operations of the lodge, ensuring that all departments work efficiently to deliver exceptional guest experiences. This role combines hands-on leadership with strategic planning to maintain high service standards, manage staff, drive revenue, and represent the lodge\u2019s brand and vision as outlined by the Director.
\nKey Responsibilities
\nOperational Oversight<\/p>\n
Oversee all departments including front office, housekeeping, Food and Beverage, conferencing, and maintenance to ensure smooth operations.
\nAssist to develop and enforce operational policies, service standards, and guest experience protocols.
\nMaintain high standards of cleanliness, safety, and presentation across all facilities and public areas.<\/p>\n
Guest Experience Management<\/p>\n
Ensure all guests receive outstanding service throughout their stay.
\nHandle guest complaints and feedback professionally and ensure timely resolution.
\nMonitor guest satisfaction scores and implement improvements to enhance the overall experience.<\/p>\n
Financial and Business Management<\/p>\n
Manage budgets, control operational costs, and oversee lodge income and expenditure.
\nSet room rates and pricing strategies in consultation with the Director.
\nPrepare and present financial and performance reports, including Key Performance Indicators such as occupancy rates, revenue, and guest satisfaction.<\/p>\n
Team Leadership and Human Resources<\/p>\n
Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate all lodge staff in line with company standards.
\nFoster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and service excellence.
\nEnsure staff welfare needs are addressed and communicated to management.
\nLead performance appraisals, staff development, and team-building initiatives.<\/p>\n
Sales and Marketing<\/p>\n
Develop and execute marketing strategies to increase visibility, bookings, and repeat business.
\nBuild partnerships with travel agents, tour operators, corporate clients, and local businesses.
\nMaintain an active presence on hospitality platforms, social media, and booking sites.<\/p>\n
Compliance and Risk Management<\/p>\n
Ensure full compliance with local laws, hospitality regulations, and health and safety standards.
\nConduct regular audits and risk assessments to maintain guest and staff safety.
\nLiaise with suppliers and service providers to ensure quality and cost-effective operations.<\/p>\n
Reporting & Communication<\/p>\n
Serve as the main liaison between staff and the Director, providing regular updates on operations and strategic initiatives.
\nRepresent the lodge in community and professional forums where necessary.<\/p>\n
Required Qualifications & Experience<\/p>\n
Diploma or Higher Certificate in Hotel Management, Hospitality Business, or related field.
\nMinimum 3\u20135 years of progressive management experience in a reputable lodge, resort, or hotel environment.
\nProven experience in managing teams, finances, and guest services in a hospitality setting.<\/p>\n
