Zambart is an independent Zambian research organization whose headquarters is at the University of Zambia\u2019s Ridgeway Campus in Lusaka. Zambart is globally renowned for its interdisciplinary research on HIV and Tuberculosis and has contributed to HIV and TB policy and practice at national and global levels. Zambart\u2019s research portfolio now includes a broader scope of urgent public health issues. \nJob Summary
\nZambart is conducting a randomized diagnostic accuracy study evaluating lung ultrasound (LUS) as a point-of-care tool for the diagnosis of pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB). The study will assess the diagnostic performance of different ultrasound protocols and probe types and is being implemented at Kanyama First Level Hospital in Lusaka.
\nWe are seeking experienced Clinical Officers to support the implementation of this study, including participant recruitment, clinical assessments, and collaboration with the hospital team.
\nKey Responsibilities include and not limited to:
\n1.\u00a0Clinical and Research Duties:<\/p>\n
Conduct informed consent discussions and obtain written consent from study participants.
\nPerform clinical evaluations of participants including history taking, physical examination, and symptom screening.
\nAccurately document clinical and sonographic findings in study of CRFs and electronic data systems.
\nAssist in sputum sample collection, TB testing procedures, and follow-up referrals, where necessary
\nMonitor for and report adverse events according to study procedures.
\nWork collaboratively with hospital staff to ensure smooth integration of study procedures within clinical care.
\nParticipate in quality assurance activities<\/p>\n
2.\u00a0Operational and Administrative Support:<\/p>\n
Maintain participant logs and ensure accurate and timely data entry.
\nReport daily study progress and any challenges encountered to the study manager
\nParticipate in regular study team meetings, refresher training, and site monitoring visits.
\nEnsure confidentiality and ethical handling of participant data and biological samples.<\/p>\n
Qualifications and Experience
\nEssential Requirements:<\/p>\n
Diploma or Degree in Clinical Medical Sciences (Clinical Officer General or equivalent)
\nRegistered with the Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ)
\nMinimum 2 years of post-qualification clinical experience
\nPrior experience in TB diagnosis and management
\nStrong interpersonal and communication skills
\nFluency in English and Nyanja or Bemba
\nBasic computer literacy (data entry, MS Word, Excel)<\/p>\n
Desirable:<\/p>\n
Experience in research or clinical trials
\nPrior training or experience in point-of-care ultrasound
\nGCP (Good Clinical Practice) certification<\/p>\n
