A. DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY
\n1. Lecturer \u2013 Engineering Mathematics (1 Position)
\nKapasa Makasa University is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates who are highly self-motivated and passionate about making a mark in the education sector to fill the position of lecturer for Statistics on full-time employment in the ICT department. The candidate should possess the following qualifications:
\nQualifications:
\nGrade 12 Certificate with Five (5) credits or better including English and Mathematics
\nBachelor\u2019s degree in statistics or related field
\nMaster\u2019s degree in Statistics or related field from reputable institutions.
\nAt least 2 years of teaching experience in a tertiary institution and evidence of research publication.
\nPhD in a Statistics-related field is an added advantage.
\nTeaching methodology qualification is an added advantage.
\nExperience and Competencies:
\nMust have a minimum of two years of practical and applied experience related to:
\nPoisson and Binomial Distribution, Uniform and Normal Distribution, Chi-Square and t-Distribution. ANOVA, Decision making with Distribution, Data representation using graphs, Central Tendency and Dispersion, Skewness, Kurtosis, Curve fitting, Correlation and Regression, Hypothesis Testing. Knowledge in SPSS, SAS, STATA, Tableau and PowerBI.
\nPrior experience lecturing in Statistics or Applied is an advantage, as it demonstrates the ability to communicate technical topics to students.
\nMust have evidence of scholarly work published in reputable journals.Must belong to a professional body related to the field of expertise and be an active member.
\nResponsibilities:
\nTo participate in offering Statistics Course to students pursuing undergraduate bachelor\u2019s degrees in their respective fields.
\nMentor students in applying academic knowledge to solve real-life problems as they work their way through their undergraduate programs.
\nTo conduct academic research and be involved in curriculum development.
\nTo review, revise, and improve curricula used by the department.
\nCoordinate with Tutors for Statistics in giving tutorials to students, asses students, Prepare and mark all assessments and final exams
\nRequired Skills:
\nGood interpersonal communication Skill
\nKnowledge in the use of research software tools like Mendelay, Paper pal etc
\nComputer Skills such as Microsoft application packages are a must
\nAbility to conduct collaborative research within and outside the University
\nReport writing and presentation skills are a must.
\nAble to use online learning platforms like Astria Learning and Moodle
