JOB POSITION: PASTRY CHEF
\nDEPARTMENT: KITCHEN
\nREPORTS TO: SOUS CHEF
\nJOB SUMMARY:
\nThe Pastry Chef is responsible for creating high-quality pastries, desserts, baked goods, and other sweet delicacies that align with the hotel\u2019s standards. The role requires creativity, attention to detail, leadership in the pastry section, and adherence to hygiene and food safety standards.
\nKey Responsibilities:
\n1. Production & Creativity:<\/p>\n
Design, prepare, and present all pastry and dessert items on the menu.
\nCreate seasonal and innovative dessert menus in consultation with the Executive Chef.
\nEnsure consistency in taste, quality, and presentation across all outlets.<\/p>\n
2. Inventory & Cost Control:<\/p>\n
Monitor inventory levels of pastry ingredients and ensure timely ordering.
\nControl wastage and manage portion sizes to align with food cost targets.
\nWork with the Cost Controller to ensure recipe costings are accurate and updated.<\/p>\n
4. Quality & Hygiene Standards:<\/p>\n
Ensure all food preparation complies with hotel and HACCP food safety standards.
\nConduct daily checks on storage, temperature controls, and kitchen cleanliness.
\nFollow all hygiene, health, and safety regulations.<\/p>\n
5. Coordination & Planning:<\/p>\n
Collaborate with banquet and events teams to prepare for large functions.
\nSupport other kitchen sections when necessary.
\nKeep records of recipes, production schedules, and daily output reports.<\/p>\n
Qualifications and Experience:<\/p>\n
Diploma or Certificate in Food Production, Baking, or Pastry from a recognized institution
\nMinimum 3\u20135 years of pastry experience in a 4\u20135 star hotel or high-end bakery.
\nStrong knowledge of classic and modern pastry techniques.
\nKnowledge of dietary requirements (gluten-free, vegan, etc.) is an advantage.<\/p>\n
