Job Purpose
\nReporting to the Workshop Foreman, and responsible for repairing, maintaining diesel and gasoline engines of heavy-duty trucks according to dealership and factory specifications. The suitable candidate must be a specialist on overhauling heavy duty truck engines.

\nJob main duties:
\nPerforms work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
\nMust be able use diagnostic tools to conduct system diagnosis, calibration, and programming.
\nAble to rebuild, replace, or repair major vehicle components, assemblies and systems including Engines, Transmissions, Suspension etc.
\nMust have full understanding of Pneumatic systems for trucks and trailers. Knowledge of fuel tankers is an added advantage.
\nUnderstands, keeps abreast of, and complies with state and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know etc.
\nEvaluate mechanical problems in vehicles using diagnostic equipment.
\nAble to conduct basic auto electrical diagnostics and repair.
\nAnalyse engine performance and perform tune ups as needed.
\nPerform routine and preventive vehicle maintenance.
\nEstimate time and materials required to perform major jobs.
\nOperate tools, machinery, and equipment according to prescribed safety procedures.
\nFollow established safety procedures and techniques to perform duties.
\nCorrect unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
\nOther tasks as assigned.
\nQualifications: Education\/Experience<\/p>\n
Full Grade 12 School Certificate.
\nFive years minimum experience in a similar position with a reputable company.
\nMinimum Advanced Certificate\/ Technician \u2013 Automotive Mechanics.
\nPrevious experience in repair of Volvo, Benz, Scania, and Howo trucks is an added advantage.
\nAbility to diagnose mechanical problems and conduct repairs independently.
\nClass C1 driving license.
\nMember of EIZ.<\/p>\n
