The Company
\nUMINO Community Loan Services is a private company limited by shares that provides financial services to rural parts of Zambia. UMINO is an acronym derived from \u2018UMoyo wa bwINO\u2019 which means a \u2018good life\u2019 and provides Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) loans.
\nCurrently, UMINO is operating using a Money Lenders\u2019 license, and is in the process of registering as a non-deposit taking Microfinance Institution (MFI) regulated by the Bank of Zambia.
\nUMINO provides loans to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the Eastern part of Zambia. UMINO currently has more than 2000 clients across six branches covering ten (10) districts namely, Rufunsa, Luangwa, Nyimba, Petauke, Sinda, Katete, Lundazi, Lumezi, Chadiza and Vubwi.
\nAs we have ambitious plans to expand our operations in the East and across Zambia, we are looking for an experienced, entrepreneurial, strategic as well as hands-on Chief Finance Officer (CFO) to join our senior leadership team.
\nJob Overview
\nThe CFO will play a critical role in shaping the financial future of UMINO Community Loan Services, ensuring financial stability, and driving growth.
\n1. Develop and implement financial strategies to support the company\u2019s goals and objectives.
\n2. Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
\n3. Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards, with particular reference to BoZ.
\n4. Manage relationships with investors, banks, and other financial institutions.
\n5. Provide strategic recommendations to the CEO and executive team and the board
\n6. Lead and mentor the finance team to achieve departmental goals.
\n7. Monitor and manage cash flow, ensuring the company\u2019s financial health.
\n8. Overseeing management and maintenance of all physical assets together with Ops function.
\n9. Identify, classify, and mitigate portfolio-, financial-, and market risks.
\nRequirements
\n1. ACCA, CIMA, ZICA
\n2. Master\u2019s degree added advantage
\n3. Sound knowledge and experience of micro-\/entrepreneurial finance operations and service
\ndelivery\/maintenance
\n4. At least 10 years of experience in a management position, preferably in micro-\/entrepreneurial finance,
\nSME banking or a related field
\n5. Strong knowledge of financial regulations and compliance, in particular BoZ framework
\n6. Strong understanding of Bank of Zambia regulations, local GAAP, IFRS, and tax laws.
\n7. Experience preparing and submitting regulatory returns and financial statements to BoZ.
\n8. Excellent analytical, strategic planning, and communication skills, combined with a strong hands-on\/can
\ndo attitude
\n9. Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
\n10. Preferably experience in scaling a business and the associated (financial) processes
\n11. ZICA Membership at the level of associate or fellow is a must.
\nResponsibilities
\nOverall management of the UMINO finance function and problem solving as required. This includes, but is not limited to:
\n1. Financial Strategy Development:
\n\u2022 Formulate and implement financial strategies to support the company\u2019s overall goals and objectives.
\n\u2022 Provide strategic recommendations to the CEO and executive team.
\n2. Financial Planning and Analysis:
\n\u2022 Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
\n\u2022 Analyze financial performance and prepare detailed reports for management.
\n3. Financial Operations Management:
\n\u2022 Manage all financial operations, including accounting, treasury, and tax functions.
\n\u2022 Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to CEO and the board.
\n4. Compliance and Risk Management:
\n\u2022 Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
\n\u2022 Identify and mitigate financial risks to safeguard the company\u2019s assets.
\n5. Cash Flow Management:
\n\u2022 Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure the company\u2019s financial stability & liquidity.
\n\u2022 Optimize the company\u2019s capital structure and funding strategies.
\n6. Investor Relations:
\n\u2022 Maintain relationships with investors, banks, and other financial institutions.
\n\u2022 Communicate the company\u2019s financial performance and strategy to stakeholders.
\n7. Team Leadership:
\n\u2022 Lead and mentor the finance team to achieve departmental goals.
\n\u2022 Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
\n8. Strategic Initiatives:
\n\u2022 Support and drive strategic initiatives, including mergers and acquisitions, partnerships, and expansions.
\n\u2022 Evaluate and manage financial aspects of new business opportunities.
\n9. Performance Monitoring:
\n\u2022 Establish and monitor key financial performance indicators (KPIs).
\n\u2022 Implement systems and processes to improve financial efficiency and effectiveness.
\n10. Advisory Role:
\n\u2022 Act as a key advisor on financial matters to the CEO and board of directors.
\n\u2022 Provide insights and recommendations based on financial analysis and projections.
\nLine Management & Reporting
\nThe finance team will report to the CFO.
\nThe CFO is part of the UMINO management team, reports to the CEO and will have regular exposure to the Board of Directors of UMINO
\nThe CFO liaises with all members of UMINO management team (COO, IAM, HRM and ITM).
