\nThe\u00a0Key Purpose\u00a0of this role is to safely operate and maintain defined Packaging equipment and related processes in order to achieve optimal effectiveness.
\nKey Roles and Responsibilities:<\/p>\n
Operating Equipment and Manage Associated Processes and Performance in Packaging
\nEnsure and maintain a safe and healthy work environment
\nInterpret and implement production plan for shift
\nOperate manual and automatic machines on line as per standards
\nMonitor production processes on shift and correct any negative trends
\nEnsure process quality and productivity
\nPerform Administration
\nComplete associated tracking and monitoring \u2013 Complete operator workstation administration and take action as required.
\nComplete Team room administration as required
\nContribute to self-development
\nMake use of relevant communication media (e.g. shift logbook) to stay informed and inform others of issues.
\nProblem Solving
\nManage PIMS & POMS and take corrective action on negative trends
\nUse Quick Fix Routines (As per triggers)
\nComplete 5 WHYs (As per triggers) with relevant team members
\nContribute towards AB reports as required.
\nAutonomous Operations
\nOperating and Process Control
\nOperating equipment in Packaging process areas according to VPO standards
\nConstantly reviewing process performance against target, and recording short stops and correcting any out of controls using the VPO tools
\nRecording waste and movement of product on the appropriate documentation or information systems. Review trends to identify & resolve problems
\nCarrying out autonomous operations as defined for the process areas.
\nIdentify defective plant, and report these through to the Process Artisan or Team Leader to assist with resolution.
\nAssisting the Process Artisan\/Machine specialist in executing running repairs on shift.
\nActively participate in shift meetings, asking questions, understanding and contributing to suggestions of improving performance, making use of the action logs to record issues, problems and improvement opportunities.
\nFully understand the team Dream and contribute in achieving it.
\nComplete required hand over to incoming shift team members, ensuring the issues relating to plant performance, quality and maintenance are communicated.
\nWhere problems occur, use the VPO problem solving tools to resolve and record the issues
\nCarrying out the required quality checks and analyses and recording the results on the appropriate information system.
\nThe list of quality checks to be executed is contained in the work instructions.

\nMinimum Requirements:<\/p>\n
Grade 12 certificate
\nDiploma\/Advanced Certificate in Electrical Engineering or mechanical engineering\/Technology or its equivalent will be an added advantage.
\nMin: 2-3 months on the job training. Ideal: 3-6 months on the job training.
\nMin 9 months on the job training and having completed SKAP within 12 months
\n0-2 years as operator in a similar industry (FCMG).
\nExperience in packaging will be an added advantage.<\/p>\n
