JOB SUMMARY:
\nThe HSEQ Officer will be responsible for leading the development, implementation, and maintenance of health, safety, environmental, and quality management systems. This role requires a proactive approach to ensure compliance with transportation safety regulations, environmental standards, and quality assurance protocols. The HSEQ Officer will collaborate with various departments to foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the company.
\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
\n1.\u00a0LEADERSHIP AND STRATEGY:<\/p>\n
Develop and implement comprehensive HSEQ strategies, policies, and procedures tailored to the transport industry.
\nLead and mentor the HSEQ team, ensuring effective communication and teamwork.<\/p>\n
2.\u00a0REGULATORY COMPLIANCE:<\/p>\n
Ensure adherence to all relevant transportation safety regulations, environmental laws, and quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001, etc.).
\nStay updated on changes in legislation and industry standards impacting HSEQ practices.<\/p>\n
3.\u00a0RISK MANAGEMENT:<\/p>\n
Conduct thorough risk assessments related to transportation operations, including vehicle safety, driver behavior, and environmental impact.
\nDevelop and implement risk mitigation strategies and emergency response plans.<\/p>\n
4.\u00a0TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT:<\/p>\n
Design and deliver targeted HSEQ training programs for drivers, operational staff, and management.
\nPromote awareness of HSEQ policies and best practices across all levels of the organisation.<\/p>\n
5.\u00a0AUDITS AND INSPECTIONS:<\/p>\n
Perform regular HSEQ audits and inspections of transport operations, vehicles, and facilities to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
\nPrepare detailed audit reports and present findings to management, along with recommendations for corrective actions.<\/p>\n
6.\u00a0Incident Management:<\/p>\n
Oversee the investigation of transportation incidents, accidents, and near misses, ensuring comprehensive root cause analysis and follow-up actions.
\nMaintain incident reporting systems, monitor trends, and implement measures to enhance safety performance.<\/p>\n
7.\u00a0Continuous Improvement:<\/p>\n
Foster a culture of continuous improvement in HSEQ performance by implementing initiatives and programs specific to the transport industry.
\nAnalyze data and metrics related to safety, environmental impact, and quality to identify trends and areas for enhancement.<\/p>\n
8.\u00a0Stakeholder Engagement:<\/p>\n
Collaborate with regulatory agencies, clients, and contractors on HSEQ matters related to transport operations.
\nRepresent the organisation in HSEQ forums, industry conferences, and community outreach activities.<\/p>\n
QUALIFICATIONS:<\/p>\n
Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Transportation Management, or related field.
\nProfessional certifications.
\nMinimum 3 years of experience in HSEQ management within the transport industry.
\nStrong knowledge of transportation safety regulations, environmental standards, and quality assurance practices.
\nExcellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
\nProficient in data analysis, report preparation, and HSEQ management softwares.<\/p>\n
WORKING CONDITIONS:<\/p>\n
The role may require occasional travel to various transport sites or operational areas.
\nAbility to work in both office and field environments, including exposure to transportation operations.<\/p>\n
