Mununshi Fruit Company Limited\u00a0is a government-owned fruit producer located in Mwense District of Luapula Province, Zambia. The Company cultivates, processes, and markets tropical fruits, primarily bananas, for both domestic and export markets. Mununshi was initially developed as an agricultural project and was later revitalized as part of Zambia\u2019s broader strategy to boost agro-industrial production. The Company was incorporated under the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) to support national efforts in rural development, food security, and job creation. Mununshi Fruit Company is poised to become a model for sustainable and inclusive commercial fruit farming in Zambia.
\nThe Company is looking to fill the following position:
\nPROCUREMENT OFFICER
\nRole Overview:
\nThe Procurement Officer is responsible for managing the Company\u2019s procurement and supply chain functions. Key duties include implementing procurement policies, overseeing sourcing and purchasing activities, managing supplier relationships and contracts, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. The role also supports operational efficiency through coordination of logistics and related administrative services.
\nKey Roles and Responsibilities:
\n1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Procurement Management<\/p>\n
Oversee the end-to-end procurement process from requisition to contract execution.
\nPrepare and issue accurate purchase requisitions and purchase orders.
\nEnsure the timely acquisition and delivery of goods and services according to specifications.<\/p>\n
2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Supplier Sourcing and Relationship Management<\/p>\n
Identify, evaluate, and prequalify suppliers based on technical capability, reliability, and commercial terms.
\nConduct market surveys, RFQs, and supplier assessments to ensure competitive pricing and quality.
\nDevelop and maintain strong supplier relationships and an up-to-date approved vendor database.<\/p>\n
3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Market Research and Value Analysis<\/p>\n
Conduct market research, price benchmarking, and historical data analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities.
\nRecommend alternative products or suppliers to enhance value for money and operational efficiency.<\/p>\n
4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Contract and Compliance Management<\/p>\n
Negotiate contract terms, pricing, and service level agreements with vendors.
\nEnsure all contracts and procurement activities comply with internal policies, ZPPA regulations, and public procurement laws.
\nManage contract renewals, amendments, terminations, and performance monitoring.
\nMaintain audit-ready procurement records and support audit exercises.<\/p>\n
5.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Inventory and Logistics Coordination<\/p>\n
Collaborate with Stores\/Inventory teams to monitor stock levels, re-order points, and replenishment needs.
\nCoordinate with logistics providers and suppliers to ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods and services.<\/p>\n
6.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Budget and Cost Control<\/p>\n
Work with the finance team to plan, monitor, and control procurement budgets.
\nAnalyse procurement expenditures to improve cost-efficiency and implement cost-saving strategies.<\/p>\n
7.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Cross-Functional Collaboration<\/p>\n
Liaise with internal departments to understand procurement needs and ensure timely support to operations.
\nFacilitate communication between suppliers and internal stakeholders to address procurement-related issues effectively.<\/p>\n
Minimum Qualifications & Experience<\/p>\n
Grade 12 Certificate with five (5) O Levels.
\nDiploma in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
\nProfessional membership with the Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply (ZIPS).
\nMinimum three (3) years of work experience in a similar position.<\/p>\n
