Job Title: Stock Accountant (1)
\nJob Purpose:
\nTo coordinate and control inventory related to mining operations, ensuring accurate stock records for raw materials, spare parts, fuel, explosives, and other mining-related supplies. The role supports financial reporting and operational efficiency through effective inventory accounting and reconciliation.
\nKey Responsibilities:
\nInventory Control & Management<\/p>\n
Monitor stock levels of mining consumables, equipment parts, and critical supplies.
\nConduct regular physical stock counts at mine sites and Main Stores.
\nReconcile physical stock with system records and investigate discrepancies.<\/p>\n
Accounting & Reporting<\/p>\n
Record inventory transactions in ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft DY365
\nReconcile inventory accounts with the general ledger.
\nPrepare monthly and quarterly inventory reports for finance and operations teams.<\/p>\n
Costing & Valuation<\/p>\n
Track and allocate costs for mining inputs (e.g., fuel, explosives, lubricants).
\nPerform & maintain accurate valuation of stock using appropriate costing methods (FIFO, weighted average).
\nImplement cost control initiatives and budgeting processes.<\/p>\n
Compliance & Risk Management<\/p>\n
Maintain & Coordinate compliance with internal controls, safety regulations, and audit standards
\nImplement procedures to prevent stock losses, theft, and misuse of mining materials
\nSupport internal and external audits related to inventory.<\/p>\n
Operational Support<\/p>\n
Collaborate with procurement, stores, and production teams to ensure timely availability of stock.
\nProvide insights into stock usage trends to optimize inventory levels.
\nProvide support in forecasting demand for critical mining supplies.<\/p>\n
Qualifications & Skills:<\/p>\n
Bachelor\u2019s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
\nProfessional certification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ZICA) is an advantage
\n5+ years of experience in inventory accounting, preferably in mining, retail.
\nProficiency in Excel, any ERP systems preferably Microsoft Business Central) and inventory management software.
\nStrong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
\nKnowledge of mining operations, Supermarket Chain Store and supply chain processes is an added advantage.
\nZICA members with good standing
