The Zambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ZACCI), established in 1933 and formally registered under the Registrar of Societies in 1990, is the apex body representing the interests of Zambia\u2019s private sector. With a nationwide membership base that spans across all sectors, ZACCI plays a pivotal role in shaping the country\u2019s economic future.
\nABOUT THE ROLE
\nThe Chamber is seeking an exceptional and visionary leader to serve as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This is a rare opportunity for a transformative professional to take the helm of one of Zambia\u2019s most influential business institutions advancing its mandate to promote private sector growth, drive strategic public-private dialogue and position Zambia as a competitive, innovative, and inclusive investment destination.
\nEMPLOYMENT TYPE: Two (2) Years Contract, Renewable
\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
\n1. Strategic Leadership & Institutional Vision<\/p>\n
Provide bold and visionary leadership to position ZACCI as a proactive and trusted voice of the private sector.
\nLead the implementation of ZACCI\u2019s strategic plan, aligning institutional priorities with Zambia\u2019s national development agenda and global economic trends.
\nBuild a strong organizational culture rooted in excellence, innovation, and responsiveness.<\/p>\n
2. High-Level Representation & Advocacy<\/p>\n
Represent ZACCI in high-stakes policy dialogue with Government, Parliament, regional bodies, and international institutions.
\nServe as the lead spokesperson on matters affecting business, trade, and investment, articulating evidence-based positions on behalf of the private sector.
\nEngage in regional and international platforms (e.g., SADC, COMESA, AfCFTA, AU, UN) to advance Zambia\u2019s economic interests.<\/p>\n
3. Policy Influence & Thought Leadership<\/p>\n
Drive the development of forward-looking policy proposals, position papers and regulatory reviews that advance business reforms.
\nInfluence national and regional policymaking by leveraging research, sectoral insights and data analytics to support advocacy.
\nLead ZACCI\u2019s participation in key economic governance processes, including budget submissions, policy roundtables, and legislative reviews.<\/p>\n
4. Stakeholder Engagement & Membership Value<\/p>\n
Strengthen partnerships with district and provincial chambers, business associations, corporate members, and SMEs across all sectors.
\nEnhance member value through meaningful programs, capacity building, trade facilitation and access to opportunities.
\nFoster trust and collaboration between the private sector and public sector institutions.<\/p>\n
5. Innovation, Trade & Investment Promotion<\/p>\n
Spearhead initiatives that support Zambia\u2019s export readiness, industrialization agenda and participation in global value chains.
\nOversee trade missions, business forums, B2B platforms and investment promotion activities to showcase Zambia\u2019s potential.
\nChampion digital transformation, green economy opportunities and inclusive business models.<\/p>\n
6. Financial Sustainability & Resource Mobilization<\/p>\n
Develop and oversee the implementation of a robust resource mobilization strategy, including donor partnerships, project funding and revenue diversification.
\nEnsure prudent financial management and compliance, while enhancing the Chamber\u2019s operational efficiency.<\/p>\n
7. Team Leadership & Organizational Development<\/p>\n
Inspire, mentor, and lead a high-performing Secretariat, ensuring alignment with ZACCI\u2019s mission and values.
\nEstablish performance-driven systems and cultivate a learning environment that values creativity and continuous improvement.
\nPrepare and coordinate Board papers, committee reports and relevant materials for ZACCI\u2019s governance structure.<\/p>\n
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:<\/p>\n
Master\u2019s degree in Economics, Business Administration, Public Policy, Development Studies or a related field.
\nMinimum of 5 years of executive or senior leadership experience, preferably in business membership organizations, the private sector or development policy.
\nProven success in managing complex stakeholder relationships at national, regional, or global level.
\nStrong knowledge of Zambia\u2019s macroeconomic environment, business policy, investment climate and regional trade integration.<\/p>\n
