CAPL is a cassava milling company located in Mukando, Chitambo, Central Province, producing cassava meal, starch and stock feed for both local and regional markets. The company is committed to promoting value addition in the cassava value chain, enhancing food security and creating sustainable economic opportunities for local communities.<br \/>\nThe Company is looking to fill the following position:<br \/>\nCOMMERCIAL MANAGER<br \/>\nRole Overview:<br \/>\nThe Commercial Manager shall spearhead the commercial operations of the company, including leadership of the sales and marketing functions, business development initiatives and execution of the commercial strategy. The role aims to drive revenue growth, expand market share and maximise profitability in alignment with the company\u2019s strategic objectives.<br \/>\nKEY RESULT AREAS<br \/>\n1. Strategic Leadership &amp; Commercial Direction<\/p>\n<p>Develop, implement and monitor company\u2019s commercial strategy in alignment with business objectives.<br \/>\nConduct market and competitive analyses to identify growth opportunities, product diversification and new revenue streams.<br \/>\nLead the preparation of annual business plans and budgets for sales, marketing and business development functions.<br \/>\nProvide clear guidance, direction and support to the commercial team to achieve performance targets and professional growth.<br \/>\nLead by example with a results-driven approach, delivering strong commercial advice and acting as a trusted partner to the management team.<br \/>\nDrive performance priorities and initiate business improvements to optimise outcomes.<br \/>\nBuild and maintain strong working relationships across the company to enable delivery of superior performance.<\/p>\n<p>2. Sales, Marketing &amp; Business Development<\/p>\n<p>Oversee the design and execution of marketing campaigns to promote the company\u2019s cassava meal, starch and stock feed in local and regional markets.<br \/>\nEstablish and maintain relationships with key clients, distributors and strategic partners.<br \/>\nSet and monitor sales targets, ensuring achievement through effective team management.<br \/>\nEnsure competitive and sustainable pricing strategies based on market analysis and cost considerations.<br \/>\nIdentify and develop export opportunities in regional markets.<br \/>\nLead negotiations to secure high-value contracts and long-term supply agreements.<br \/>\nAttend networking events, trade fairs and exhibitions to promote the company and expand market presence.<br \/>\nNegotiate contract terms with new clients and support closure of sales leads.<\/p>\n<p>3. Financial &amp; Commercial Operations<\/p>\n<p>Monitor commercial performance metrics, analyse trends and provide actionable reports to management.<br \/>\nCollaborate with Finance to forecast revenue, track sales performance against budget and ensure profitability targets are met.<br \/>\nDeliver profitability analysis at product level to inform commercial decisions.<br \/>\nManage budgets, expenses, pricing structures and commercial arrangements to ensure cost efficiency.<br \/>\nAdvise on pricing for commercial contracts and ensure financial viability of agreements.<br \/>\nIdentify opportunity costs and implement efficiency measures within authority levels.<\/p>\n<p>4. Performance Management &amp; Reporting<\/p>\n<p>Own the commercial performance management framework, tracking KPIs including demand, availability gaps, price achievement, profitability and working capital.<br \/>\nDeliver annual budgets, business plans and monthly forecasts.<br \/>\nWork proactively across business units to implement corrective actions where required.<\/p>\n<p>5. Stakeholder &amp; Relationship Management<\/p>\n<p>Maintain strong relationships with government agencies, regulatory bodies, industry associations and trade partners.<br \/>\nRepresent the company at relevant industry forums, promoting it\u2019s brand and market position.<br \/>\nPartner with internal stakeholders across sales, procurement, production and marketing to drive commercial performance.<\/p>\n<p>6. Business Improvement &amp; Compliance<\/p>\n<p>Lead value improvement initiatives across functional units to optimise productivity and profitability.<br \/>\nEnsure compliance with company policies, delegated authority limits and business rules.<br \/>\nOversee systems and processes to ensure accurate, timely and reliable data for decision-making.<br \/>\nDevelop financial and operational forecasts to support short and long term business objectives.<br \/>\nAnalyse business performance in terms of profitability, revenue, pricing and cost of goods sold, recommending strategic improvements.<\/p>\n<p>7. Other Duties<\/p>\n<p>Prepare financial and commercial models to assess future profitability of identified opportunities.<br \/>\nSupport continuous improvement initiatives to maintain operational excellence.<br \/>\nUndertake any additional duties as assigned from time to time.<\/p>\n<p>Minimum Qualifications &amp; Experience<\/p>\n<p>Grade 12 certificate with five (5) O-levels minimum<br \/>\nBachelor\u2019s degree or equivalent professional qualification in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or related discipline<br \/>\nProfessional membership with relevant industry body<br \/>\nMinimum eight (8) years of experience in comparable role, preferably within agribusiness or food processing sectors<br \/>\nDemonstrated experience managing fast-moving consumer goods within agribusiness or food industry sectors<br \/>\nWorking knowledge of consumer behavior patterns in Zambian urban markets.<\/p>\n<p>Competencies and Skills<br \/>\nTechnical Competencies<\/p>\n<p>Strategic sales and marketing planning.<br \/>\nBusiness development and client relationship management.<br \/>\nFinancial acumen and commercial analysis.<br \/>\nKnowledge of agribusiness value chains and regional trade dynamics.<\/p>\n<p>Behavioural Competencies<\/p>\n<p>Strong leadership and team management skills.<br \/>\nExcellent negotiation, persuasion and networking abilities.<br \/>\nResults-oriented with a proven record of meeting or exceeding targets.<br \/>\nHigh integrity and ethical business conduct.<br \/>\nStrong communication and presentation skills.<\/p>\n<p>Sharing is Caring!
