We are seeking to recruit a qualified and experienced individual based in Lusaka for the position of Accountant.
\nThis role is critical in ensuring financial integrity, compliance, and effective financial management to support the company\u2019s strategic growth.
\nPurpose of the Role
\nThe Accountant will be responsible for managing, recording, analysing, and reporting the organisation\u2019s financial transactions. The role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong technical accounting knowledge, who can ensure compliance with IFRS and Zambian tax laws, coordinate audits, implement robust internal controls, and provide financial insights to management.
\nKey Responsibilities<\/p>\n
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS and statutory requirements.
\nOversee accounting operations including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and petty cash management.
\nEnsure accurate tax filings (VAT, PAYE, Withholding Tax) and compliance with Zambian tax laws.
\nCoordinate internal and external audits, ensuring timely resolution of findings.
\nImplement and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard assets and prevent fraud.
\nConduct variance analysis, budgeting, and forecasting to support decision-making.
\nSupervise and mentor junior accounting staff and interns.
\nProvide financial insights to senior management and collaborate with other departments.<\/p>\n
Qualifications, Experience and Competencies<\/p>\n
Full Grade 12 Certificate.
\nProfessional qualification in ACCA, CIMA, or ZICA.
\nRegistered Member of ZICA (mandatory).
\n2\u20134 years\u2019 experience in a similar accounting or finance role.
\nStrong knowledge of IFRS and Zambian tax laws.
\nProficiency in accounting software (SAP, QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Excel.
\nExperience with ZRA Smart Invoice Platform, merchant reconciliations, and ERP\/accounting systems.
\nStrong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
\nHigh attention to detail, integrity, and professionalism.
\nAbility to work under pressure and meet deadlines.<\/p>\n
