We seek to hire an empathetic and knowledgeable Student Advisor Intern who is based in Lusaka to join our team.
\nThe Student Advisor Intern will play a critical role in guiding students through academic and career decisions by providing tailored counselling, application assistance, and financial aid support. This position is ideal for professionals passionate about making a meaningful impact on students\u2019 lives.
\nKey Duties and Responsibilities:
\n1. Student Counselling and Guidance:
\n\u2013 Conduct one-on-one sessions to understand students\u2019 academic backgrounds, goals, and interests.
\n\u2013 Advise students on academic programs, institutions, and career options locally and internationally.
\n\u2013 Help students identify courses and programs that align with their aspirations and qualifications.
\n2. Application Assistance:
\n\u2013 Guide students through application processes, including preparing documentation and meeting deadlines.
\n\u2013 Assist with crafting application materials such as personal statements, resumes, and reference letters.
\n\u2013 Support students in navigating online application platforms.
\n3. Financial Aid & Scholarship Support:
\n\u2013 Provide information about scholarships, grants, and financial aid options.
\nAssist with scholarship applications, including writing assistance and meeting eligibility criteria.
\n\u2013 Offer budgeting advice and strategies for managing educational expenses.
\nAcademic Preparation & Transition Support:
\n\u2013 Provide resources to help students prepare for academic programs and adapt to new environments.
\n\u2013 Organize workshops or webinars on academic success, cultural adaptation, and career readiness.
\n\u2013 Support exam preparation for tests like IELTS, TOEFL, and SAT as needed.
\nFollow-up and Student Success Tracking:
\n\u2013 Maintain regular contact with students to track application progress and provide ongoing support.
\n\u2013 Check on students\u2019 academic progress and personal well-being post-enrolment.
\nGather feedback to enhance services and address student needs.
\n4. Information and Resource Management:
\n\u2013 Stay updated on educational programs, institutional requirements, and academic trends.
\n\u2013 Develop and maintain resources on programs, scholarships, and application processes.
\n\u2013 Create content for our Consultancy\u2019s website, social media, and newsletters to inform prospective students and parents.
\n5. Follow-up and Student Success Tracking
\n\u2013 Maintain regular contact with students to track their application status and provide ongoing support as needed.
\n\u2013 Follow up with students after enrolment to check on their academic progress and personal well-being.
\n\u2013 Gather feedback to improve services and identify areas where students may need additional support.
\n6. Information and Resource Management
\n\u2013 Stay updated on educational program offerings, institutional requirements, and changes in the academic landscape.
\n\u2013 Develop informational materials and maintain resource databases on programs, scholarships, and application processes.
\n\u2013 Assist in creating informational content for the client\u2019s website, social media, and newsletters to inform prospective students and parents.
\nQualifications, Experience, Exposure and Skills
\n\u2013 Bachelor\u2019s degree in education, Counselling, Psychology, or a related field.
\n\u2013 Experience: 1+ years of experience in academic advising, student counselling, or related fields, preferably in the education or consultancy sector.
\n\u2013 Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
\n\u2013 Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
\n\u2013 Empathy, patience, and a genuine interest in supporting student success.
\n\u2013 Knowledge of scholarship programs, financial aid options, and educational institutions.
\n\u2013 Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with digital platforms for virtual advising.
\nKey Performance Indicators (KPIs)
\n\u2013 Number of students successfully placed in educational programs.
\n\u2013 Student satisfaction rates based on feedback.
\n\u2013 Scholarship application success rates.
\n\u2013 Timely and accurate submission of student applications.
