The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:<br \/>\nKey Responsibilities<br \/>\nAssessing works and quantifying materials required to them.<br \/>\nEnsuring that works done are of quality and to acceptable standards.<br \/>\nMaking arcing sticks for the Mills section.<br \/>\nMaking wooden boxes for transporting factory mill spare parts to South Africa.<br \/>\nCommunicating to supervisor on new development and updates regarding carpentry works.<br \/>\nProviding suggestions to supervisor and team on best cost-effective measures of doing works.<br \/>\nChecking materials ordered for works whether they are of good quality for works.<br \/>\nAttending to emergencies in the factory especially to do with door and lock damages.<br \/>\nEnsuring that personal tools and equipment are safe for use.<br \/>\nEnsuring a safe working environment.<br \/>\nAlways being safety-conscious while on duty.<br \/>\nIdentifying shortcomings and weaknesses in assistants and offering advice where appropriate.<br \/>\nMaking recommendations for works and materials required to execute them.<br \/>\nGiving hand-overs to colleagues and supervisor when there\u2019s need to go on leave.<br \/>\nInstalling modern locking systems especially at New Refinery and factory MCC\u2019s.<br \/>\nReplacing worn-out ceilings in the factory offices, finance, HR etc and sealing of roof leakages.<br \/>\nDoing shuttering works for bricklayers before casting concrete.<br \/>\nAssembling of office tables, chairs, file-shelves etc<br \/>\nRepair of office furniture and recommending them for reuse in order to reduce costs.<br \/>\nLiaise with supervisors, engineers, and other artisans to complete tasks efficiently.<br \/>\nKeep accurate records of work performed and provide progress reports as required.<br \/>\nMinimum Requirements<br \/>\nFull Grade 12 School Certificate<br \/>\nCraft Certificate in Carpentry &amp; Joinery from a recognized vocational training institute\/technical college.<br \/>\nPreferably 2 \u2013 3 years\u2019 practical experience as a Carpenter in construction or maintenance.<br \/>\nMembership with Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ)<br \/>\nSuitably qualified applicants must provide certificates verified by Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).<br \/>\nCompetences and Personal Attributes<br \/>\nMust be a self-starter able to execute and deliver with minimum supervision<br \/>\nGood communication skills<br \/>\nGood Leadership skills<br \/>\nSharing is Caring!
