We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Laboratory Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting routine laboratory tests, preparing samples, maintaining lab equipment, and ensuring accurate data recording. This role requires strong analytical skills, a commitment to safety protocols, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
\nThe right fit candidate will:
\nLaboratory Operations and Testing<\/p>\n
Perform laboratory tests, experiments, and analyses in accordance with established protocols and procedures.
\nConduct further tests as required, including gram staining, histology, and cell culture, depending on procedural needs.
\nCollect and process samples, accurately recording observations and findings.
\nAnalyse data and prepare reports on laboratory tests and activities.<\/p>\n
Quality Assurance and Compliance<\/p>\n
Conduct quality control checks and assurance procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results.
\nAdhere strictly to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and contribute to the development, validation, and continuous improvement of methods and protocols.
\nMaintain compliance with laboratory policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.<\/p>\n
Equipment Management and Technical Support<\/p>\n
Calibrate laboratory equipment and instruments to ensure accurate and reliable results.
\nMaintain cleanliness and proper functioning of laboratory equipment and workspaces.
\nTroubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to equipment, procedures, and processes.
\nProvide technical support to laboratory staff, students, and other stakeholders; assist in training activities when required.<\/p>\n
Safety and Professional Conduct<\/p>\n
Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for co-workers and stakeholders.
\nDemonstrate professionalism, integrity, and a strong commitment to excellence in all work activities.
\nCommunicate effectively with colleagues, management, and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth operations.<\/p>\n
Documentation and Administrative Duties<\/p>\n
Maintain detailed and accurate laboratory records, including test results, observations, and relevant data, ensuring compliance with documentation standards and regulations.
\nParticipate actively in laboratory meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to remain current with industry trends and best practice<\/p>\n
Field Research and Data Collection<\/p>\n
Assist with field research, including sample collection and data analysis, in support of ongoing research projects and scientific studies.<\/p>\n
The Laboratory Technician\u00a0Must have:<\/p>\n
Grade 12 Certificate
\n3-4 years of work experience
\nBachelor of Science in Microbiology, Biomedical Science, or Aquaculture and Fisheries.
\nAdditional certification in Laboratory Practice\/Technology and Food Safety will be considered an added advantage.
\nStrong knowledge of fish nutrition, health, pathology, and disease management is essential.<\/p>\n
