\nPurpose of the Role
\nThe Electrical Superintendent provides overall leadership, strategic planning, and technical oversight for all electrical works on the Lumwana Expansion Project. This senior role ensures that all LV and MV installations, maintenance, and commissioning activities are executed to the highest safety, quality, and compliance standards in line with South African (NBCEI), Zambian (EIZ), and international (IEC) regulations. The Superintendent will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage high-value resources, and drive project delivery to meet cost, schedule, and performance objectives.
\nMinimum Requirements
\n1. Qualifications & Certifications
\nSouth African Red Seal Trade Certificate \u2013 Electrical (Section 13 or 26D).
\nNBCEI compliance and registration.
\nEligible for registration with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
\nValid passport and eligibility for Zambian Class A Work Permit and Temporary Employment Permit (TEP).
\n2. Experience
\n7\u201310 years\u2019 post-trade experience in heavy industrial, mining, or large-scale commercial electrical projects.
\nMinimum 3 years in a superintendent or senior supervisory capacity on large, complex sites.
\nProven expertise in LV\/MV installations, commissioning, diagnostics, and compliance verification.
\nStrong working knowledge of SANS 10142-1, ZABS ZS 374, and applicable IEC standards.
\nPrior experience on African or international expatriate projects advantageous.
\nKey Responsibilities
\nStrategic Leadership & Team Management
\nLead, direct, and develop multi-skilled electrical teams to achieve project goals.
\nAllocate resources efficiently, monitor productivity, and drive high-performance outcomes.
\nChampion a proactive safety culture through daily briefings, toolbox talks, and visible leadership.
\nTechnical Authority & Quality Assurance
\nApprove and oversee all electrical installations, repairs, and commissioning activities.
\nValidate and interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams (SLDs), and layouts for execution.
\nConduct audits, quality inspections, and final acceptance sign-offs in compliance with SANS, ZABS, and IEC requirements.
\nRegulatory Compliance & Governance
\nEnsure strict adherence to NBCEI, the South African OHS Act, Zambia\u2019s Factories Act, and all statutory and project-specific regulations.
\nMaintain readiness for audits, liaising with regulatory authorities (EIZ, ZESCO, etc.) as required.
\nControl documentation including job cards, inspection reports, test records, and quality checklists.
\nCross-Discipline Coordination & Reporting
\nInterface with mechanical, instrumentation, and civil disciplines to integrate electrical works into the overall project plan.
\nResolve technical and scheduling conflicts to protect critical path activities.
\nProvide detailed daily and weekly progress reports to site leadership, highlighting risks, opportunities, and required interventions.
\nSkills & Competencies
\nMastery of LV\/MV electrical systems, commissioning processes, and safety-critical installations.
\nStrong leadership presence with the ability to direct large, diverse, and multicultural teams.
\nSkilled in conflict resolution, decision-making under pressure, and resource optimisation.
\nDeep understanding of South African and Zambian regulatory frameworks.
\nCompetence in MS Office Suite, reporting platforms, and diagnostic\/testing tools.
\nWorking Conditions
\nSite-based role in a remote mining project environment.
\nMay require working at heights, in confined spaces, or extended hours to meet deadlines.
\nStrict compliance with PPE and safety standards at all times.
