This role contributes to steel fabrication, fitting, and installation tasks, ensuring work is performed safely and in line with project specifications. The Assistant Fabrication Expert also assists in training and mentoring local semi-skilled staff but does not carry formal supervisory or legal responsibilities.<br \/>\nMinimum Qualifications &amp; Requirements<br \/>\nEducation &amp; Certification:<br \/>\nBasic literacy and numeracy (Grade 10 or equivalent preferred)<br \/>\nProgress toward or enrollment in Boilermaking Trade Test or relevant NQF Level 2\u20133 qualification preferred<br \/>\nBasic site safety and fabrication training<br \/>\nExperience:<br \/>\n3\u20135 years practical experience in semi-skilled boilermaking, fabrication, or metalworking<br \/>\nExperience assisting with team coordination and supporting the training of junior or local staff<br \/>\nKey Responsibilities<br \/>\nAssist the Lead Boilermaker in coordinating fabrication assistants during daily tasks<br \/>\nSupport the fabrication, fitting, grinding, and installation of steel supports, brackets, and structures<br \/>\nAssist with interpreting basic fabrication drawings and instructions under supervision<br \/>\nHelp ensure compliance with site safety procedures and quality standards (including welding safety and hot work permits)<br \/>\nParticipate in maintaining tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and tidy manner<br \/>\nAssist in training and mentoring local semi-skilled and unskilled staff in fabrication tasks<br \/>\nReport work progress, delays, or safety concerns to the Lead Boilermaker<br \/>\nFollow all company HSE policies and actively participate in safety briefings and toolbox talks<br \/>\nCore Skills &amp; Competencies<br \/>\nBasic fabrication and metalworking skills (cutting, grinding, fitting)<br \/>\nAbility to assist and support semi-skilled fabrication assistants without formal supervisory responsibility<br \/>\nBasic ability to read simple fabrication drawings or instructions<br \/>\nGood communication and teamwork skills<br \/>\nStrong awareness of health and safety requirements<br \/>\nWillingness to assist with training and skill transfer to local semi-skilled workers<br \/>\nWorking Conditions<br \/>\nWork in remote project environments with exposure to heat, dust, noise, and physical labor<br \/>\nFull PPE compliance and strict adherence to safety policies are mandatory<br \/>\nMay require shift work, overtime, and physically demanding tasks<br \/>\nApplication Requirements<br \/>\nUpdated CV with references<br \/>\nCopies of educational certificates and trade progression\/enrollment proof (if applicable)<br \/>\nValid Passport \/ ID \/ NRC<br \/>\nPolice Clearance and Medical Fitness Certificate (if applicable)<br \/>\nSharing is Caring!
