Eastern Tropical Fruit Company Limited (ETF) is jointly owned by Zambia Fruit Company and Vitaplus Foods Limited, under the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC). The Company operates a hybrid fruit and vegetable processing plant located in Katete District, Eastern Province of Zambia.
\nRole Overview:
\nThe Food Technologist is responsible for ensuring the quality, safety, and consistency of all products manufactured at Eastern Tropical Company Limited. This role involves developing and improving food products, managing quality control processes, and ensuring compliance with all food safety and regulatory standards. The Food Technologist works closely with the production and laboratory teams to optimize processes and maintain high product integrity.
\nKey Roles and Responsibilities:
\nProduct Development and Improvement:<\/p>\n
Research, develop, and improve recipes and formulations for new and existing fruit and vegetable products.
\nConduct trials and tests to ensure product consistency, quality, and shelf life.
\nWork to improve product taste, texture, and nutritional value.<\/p>\n
Quality Assurance and Control (QA\/QC):<\/p>\n
Develop and implement a robust quality control program to monitor raw materials, in-process goods, and finished products.
\nConduct regular quality checks and tests to ensure products meet established standards.
\nInvestigate and resolve product quality issues and customer complaints.
\nMaintain accurate records of all quality control tests and data.<\/p>\n
Food Safety and Compliance:<\/p>\n
Ensure all production processes and products comply with national food safety regulations and international standards (e.g., HACCP, ISO 22000,ZABS).
\nConduct internal audits to ensure adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and other safety protocols.
\nPrepare for and participate in external audits and regulatory inspections.<\/p>\n
Collaboration and Training:<\/p>\n
Work closely with the Production and Laboratory teams to ensure seamless quality management.
\nTrain factory staff on food safety procedures, hygiene standards, and quality control protocols.<\/p>\n
Minimum Qualifications & Experience<\/p>\n
Grade 12 Certificate with five (5) O Levels.
\nDiploma in Food Science, Food Technology, or related field
\nMembership with a recognized professional regulatory body
\nMinimum 5 years\u2019 experience in food processing, quality assurance, or laboratory work.
\nStrong knowledge of food safety regulations and quality management systems.<\/p>\n
