Eastern Tropical Fruit Company Limited (ETF) is jointly owned by Zambia Fruit Company and Vitaplus Foods Limited, under the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC). The Company operates a hybrid fruit and vegetable processing plant located in Katete District, Eastern Province of Zambia.
\nRole Overview:
\nThe Senior Procurement Officer will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing all procurement activities for Eastern Tropical Fruits Limited (ETF). The role ensures that goods, services, and raw materials are procured in a timely, cost-effective, and transparent manner, in compliance with company policies and industry standards. The Senior Procurement Officer will work closely with production, finance, and commercial teams to guarantee uninterrupted operations and value-for-money in all supply contracts.
\nKey Roles and Responsibilities:
\nStrategic Sourcing and Vendor Management:<\/p>\n
Develop and implement procurement strategies to meet the company\u2019s operational needs.
\nIdentify, evaluate, and select suppliers and vendors based on price, quality, and delivery timelines.
\nNegotiate contracts, terms, and conditions with suppliers to secure the best value for the company.
\nBuild and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key suppliers and monitor their performance<\/p>\n
Procurement Process Management:<\/p>\n
Manage the entire procurement cycle, from purchase requisition to order placement and delivery.
\nEnsure all procurement activities comply with company policies and ethical standards.
\nPrepare and process purchase orders, RFQs (Request for Quotation), and RFPs (Request for Proposal).<\/p>\n
Cost Management and Reporting:<\/p>\n
Analyze market trends and pricing to identify cost-saving opportunities.
\nMonitor and control procurement budgets to ensure alignment with financial goals.
\nGenerate regular reports on purchasing activities, cost savings, and supplier performance for management review.<\/p>\n
Inventory and Logistics Coordination:<\/p>\n
Collaborate with the Factory Manager and Production team to forecast material requirements and manage inventory levels.
\nCoordinate logistics for the timely delivery of goods to the factory.
\nResolve any issues related to order discrepancies, quality problems, or late deliveries.<\/p>\n
Minimum Qualifications & Experience<\/p>\n
Grade 12 Certificate
\nBachelor\u2019s Degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management,
\nPurchasing and Supply, or other relevant fields.
\nProfessional certification from a recognized procurement body (e.g., CIPS) is a significant advantage.
\nShould be a member of Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply (ZIPS).
\nMinimum of 5 years\u2019 experience in a similar position.
\nProven experience in vendor negotiation and contract management.<\/p>\n
