Eastern Tropical Fruit Company Limited (ETF) is jointly owned by Zambia Fruit Company and Vitaplus Foods Limited, under the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC). The Company operates a hybrid fruit and vegetable processing plant located in Katete District, Eastern Province of Zambia.
\nRole Overview:
\nThe Processing Operator is responsible for the hands-on operation of machinery and equipment used to process fruits and vegetables into final products. This role ensures that all processing activities are carried out according to the production plan, quality standards, and safety procedures.
\nKey Roles and Responsibilities:
\nMachine Operation:<\/p>\n
Operate and monitor processing equipment such as crushers, pulpers, extractors, and pasteurizers.
\nAdjust machine settings to ensure optimal performance and product quality.
\nMonitor temperatures, pressures, and flow rates during the processing cycle.<\/p>\n
Production and Quality Control:<\/p>\n
Follow production schedules and instructions from the Production Supervisor.
\nLoad raw materials into machines and monitor the processing of fruits and vegetables.
\nConduct basic quality checks on processed materials, such as pH and brix levels.
\nIdentify and report any product quality issues or deviations to the supervisor.<\/p>\n
Maintenance and Cleaning:<\/p>\n
Perform routine cleaning and sanitation of all processing equipment and work areas.
\nConduct basic maintenance checks on machinery and report any faults or malfunctions.
\nEnsure the work area is kept clean, organized, and free of hazards.<\/p>\n
Safety Compliance:<\/p>\n
Adhere to all health and safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
\nFollow all food safety and hygiene regulations.
\nReport all accidents, incidents, and near-misses immediately to the supervisor.<\/p>\n
Minimum Qualifications & Experience<\/p>\n
Diploma in Food Science, Food Processing, Production Management, or related field.
\nMinimum of\u00a03 years\u2019 experience working in a manufacturing or food processing environment.
\nKnowledge of food safety and quality standards such as HACCP and ISO 22000.
\nMembership with a recognized professional regulatory body
\nProven ability to operate and maintain industrial machinery.<\/p>\n
