The Company operates a hybrid fruit and vegetable processing plant located in Katete District, Eastern Province of Zambia.<br \/>\nRole Overview:<br \/>\nThe Boiler Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, monitoring, and maintenance of the factory\u2019s boiler system. This role ensures a reliable supply of steam or hot water for processing, sterilization, and other production needs. The operator will perform routine checks, troubleshoot issues, and adhere to all safety and regulatory standards.<br \/>\nKey Roles and Responsibilities:<br \/>\nStart up, operate, and shut down steam boilers in accordance with operational guidelines and production schedules.<br \/>\nMonitor boiler pressure, water levels, fuel supply, and temperatures to ensure safe and efficient operation.<br \/>\nAdjust valves, gauges, and controls to regulate steam or hot water flow as needed.<br \/>\nPerform routine checks and preventive maintenance on boilers, feed pumps, valves, and auxiliary equipment.<br \/>\nIdentify mechanical or operational issues and carry out minor repairs or escalate to maintenance teams.<br \/>\nClean and service boiler components to maintain efficiency and prolong equipment lifespan.<br \/>\nAdhere to all health, safety, and environmental standards in boiler operations.<br \/>\nConduct safety checks and respond promptly to abnormal readings, alarms, or emergency situations.<br \/>\nEnsure compliance with statutory regulations including those from the Zambia Environmental Management Agency (ZEMA) and other relevant authorities.<br \/>\nMaintain detailed logs of boiler readings, maintenance activities, fuel usage, and operational incidents.<br \/>\nReport anomalies, incidents, and maintenance needs to the relevant supervisors in a timely manner.<br \/>\nAssist in preparing reports for audits and compliance reviews.<br \/>\nWork closely with production and utility teams to align steam supply with operational needs.<br \/>\nProvide technical input on boiler performance and recommend efficiency improvements.<br \/>\nParticipate in training and skill development activities to improve boiler and plant operations.<br \/>\nMinimum Qualifications &amp; Experience<br \/>\nGrade 12 Certificate with five (5) O Levels.<br \/>\nDiploma in Mechanical Engineering, Power Plant Technology, or a related field.<br \/>\nBoiler Operation License or Certification from a recognized institution or regulatory body.<br \/>\nMinimum of 3 years of experience operating industrial steam boilers, preferably in a manufacturing or food processing environment.<br \/>\nWorking knowledge of boiler controls, water treatment systems, and steam distribution networks.<br \/>\nMembership with a recognized professional regulatory body<br \/>\nRequired Competencies and Skills:<br \/>\nTechnical Knowledge: Strong understanding of boiler systems, their components, and associated safety protocols.<br \/>\nAttention to Detail: Meticulous in monitoring gauges, readings, and performing safety checks.<br \/>\nProblem-Solving: Ability to quickly identify and troubleshoot operational issues.<br \/>\nSafety Consciousness: A strong, unwavering commitment to boiler safety and regulatory compliance.<br \/>\nPhysical Stamina: Capable of performing physically demanding tasks and working in a hot, industrial environment.<br \/>\nSharing is Caring!
