AP manages 23 protected areas in 13 countries covering over 20 million hectares in Angola, Benin, Central African Republic, Chad, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Malawi, Mozambique, the Republic of Congo, South Sudan, Rwanda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.<br \/>\nJob Overview<br \/>\nTo provide support to the Workshop Manager in ensuring Liuwa Plain National Park applies the highest standards in Mechanical services in order to facilitate the implementation of the Conservation Strategy.<br \/>\nDuties and responsibilities:<\/p>\n<p>Inspect vehicles &amp; motorcycles, Machines, engines, transmissions, etc. and run diagnostics to discover functionality issues<br \/>\nPerform refurbishment operations (shock absorbers, tires, brake discs and pads, batteries, filters).<br \/>\nCarry out repairs on vehicles and machines with the aim of maximum quality work.<br \/>\nResolve reported issues and resolve them in a timely manner.<br \/>\nPerform general maintenance of vehicles, machinery, equipment and mechanical equipment like gensets and mechanized systems.<br \/>\nClean and apply lubricants to machine components.<br \/>\nOpen a job card for each vehicle once received in the workshop or machinery before working on it and close the job card upon completion of work.<br \/>\nProvide advice on proper maintenance and preventive measures to machine and Vehicle user.<br \/>\nKeep work logs and report problems to the senior on duty.<br \/>\nAnd any other task at the request of the supervisor.<br \/>\nRequired Skills and Competencies<br \/>\nUnderstanding of vehicle systems: engine, brakes, suspension, exhaust, etc.<br \/>\nAbility to use hand tools, power tools, and basic diagnostic equipment safely and correctly<br \/>\nPerforming oil changes, tire rotations, brake pad replacements, and fluid checks.<br \/>\nSupporting senior mechanics in disassembly, repair, and reassembly of vehicle components.<br \/>\nAbility to understand service manuals, diagrams, and repair instructions.<br \/>\nCarefully follows instructions and checks work to avoid mistakes<br \/>\nCompletes assigned tasks within the expected time frames.<br \/>\nWorks effectively with senior mechanics, supervisors, and other workshop staff.<br \/>\nOpen to feedback and actively develops technical knowledge through hands-on experience.<br \/>\nUnderstands and follows workshop safety procedures (e.g., PPE, safe lifting).<br \/>\nKeeps the work area tidy and tools properly stored<\/p>\n<p>Role requirements<\/p>\n<p>A high school Certificate<br \/>\nA diploma\/certificate is preferred (CAP in automotive mechanics)<br \/>\nExcellent knowledge of hydraulic, electrical and other engines, machines and systems.<br \/>\nAbility to use various hand tools (screwdrivers, hammers, etc.) and precision measuring tools (e.g. calipers)<br \/>\nAbility to follow established procedures and practices and read instructions, plans, etc.<br \/>\nA strong commitment to all health and safety guidelines<br \/>\nRegistered Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ)<\/p>\n<p>African Parks Zambia is an Equal Opportunity Employer.<br \/>\nApplicants for this position must have a clean record and traceable references.
