Roles & Responsibilities<\/p>\n
Promote occupational health and safety within his organization and develop safer and healthier ways of working.
\nMake sure that the organization is aware of, and complies with, all legislation in relation to the use of its plant, equipment, and substances, as well as in all workplace activities.
\nParticipate in Safety & Environmental Audits and manage site safety management systems.
\nEnsure that all Non-conformances are closed quickly and effectively.
\nWork areas Inspected (routine and planned) develop action tracker and update the section head.
\nEnsure that company safety and environmental policies are adhered to
\nAttend to safety issues from Safety representatives.
\nEnsure that all new employees and contractors are inducted, and records are retained.
\nDevelop Training matrix and training needs and come up with training schedules
\nCascade Learning from Incidents, best practices, drive consistency and standardize Safety & Environmental practices in Development Teams according to Hitachi\u2019s Safety standards.
\nEnsure that Safety related communication is communicated and regularly and filed accordingly
\nMake weekly & monthly reports on Safety & Environmental indicators.<\/p>\n
Risk Assessment<\/p>\n
Maintain and update the hazards identification and risk assessments records.
\nEnsure that the controls in place are coherent, necessary and sufficient.<\/p>\n
Operational control, certification & training<\/p>\n
Promote JHA for non-routine activities and ensure they are understood and applied.
\nIdentify risks for each step of those non-routine activities.
\nEnsure SOP are done for routine activities and that they are created with the assistance of the technical team.
\nParticipate in the periodical SOPs review.
\nTrain and sensitize all personnel on various SOPs.
\nEnsure the execution of weekly inspections.
\nMake weekly & monthly reports on Safety & Environmental indicators.<\/p>\n
Incidents, accidents, non-conformity<\/p>\n
Report incidents \/ accidents and non-compliance
\nParticipate in investigations following accidents, incidents & propose corrective and preventive actions.<\/p>\n
Qualifications & Experience<\/p>\n
Grade 12 Certificate.
\nMinimum of Diploma in a Safety related field
\nAdvanced Diploma or Degree will be an added advantage.
\nMinimum experience of 3 years in Mining\/Factory\/Industrial environment.
\nValid driver\u2019s license.
\nMember of the relevant professional body.<\/p>\n
