Zambia Sugar Plc. is an ABF Group sugar company and is the leading sugar producer in Zambia. Its main activities are the growing of sugarcane, the production and marketing of sugar and other sugar downstream products.
\nZambia Sugar carries out Off-Crop maintenance works in the Factory for a duration of up to four (4) months. The Company invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the following Off-Crop positions in the Manufacturing Department.
\nARTISAN \u2013 PLUMBER x 1 OFFCROP
\nMANUFACTURING DEPARTMENT (NAKAMBALA)
\nThe position reports to the Maintenance Foreman. The successful candidates will be responsible for supporting maintenance to achieve maximum plant availability and equipment capacity, ensuring compliance to minimum operating standards and\/ or work instructions.
\nKey Performance Areas<\/p>\n
Implement preventative \/ reactive \/ predictive maintenance initiatives and plans to reduce costs and downtime.
\nPromote cross-discipline functional and stakeholder engagement as well as teamwork.
\nEnsure plant realizes agreed capacity (targets) and teams address areas for improvement.
\nExecute stop day or opportunity stops \/ shut down activities timeously.
\nIdentify personal Learning and Development needs.
\nCarry out plumbing and piping to achieve maximum plant availability and equipment capacity as per OEMs and Illovo procedures.
\nPerform pipe cutting, threading and connecting galvanised, steam, copper and PVC (polyvinyl chloride) pipes up to 100mm.
\nRepair and install work on steam, air, water and oil piping systems.
\nInstall and maintain gutters and flashing systems.
\nInstall piping, sanitary and electrical geysers
\nWork hand-in-hand with Civils Department and assist from time to time on plumbing matters
\nRemove and replace defective valves up to 100mm in diameter size.
\nUse the offhand grinding machines.
\nEnsure that all defects identified during specific route inspections are documented on the checklist feedback with immediate action plan to mitigate significant risks for closure.
\nMaintain an in-depth knowledge of the condition of pipe thread cutting equipment on a continuous basis and take responsibility for failures resulting from inadequate equipment specific inspection.
\nContribute to the RCA process in your section possessing a positive mind set and elimination of failure.
\nMonitor own section\u2019s KPIs , understand your contribution to them, contribute to solutions to resolve out of spec KPIs and maintain actions to sustain KPIs being within specification.
\nExecute work for stop day, shut-down and off-crop maintenance activities on the plant equipment and carry out the plumbing works timeously without delay to production
\nStrictly adhere to ABF\u2019s procedures, policies and guidelines, including, without limitation, those relating to SHERQ, Competition Law and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC)<\/p>\n
Minimum Qualifications<\/p>\n
Grade 12 Certificate
\nMinimum: Trade Test level 1 Certificate in Plumbing
\n2+ years post experience in a robust plant environment,
\n2+ years\u2019 experience in the sugar industry is an added advantage.
\nCraft certificate in Plumbing and Sheet metal will be an advantage<\/p>\n
