This position is focused on academic quality, curriculum delivery, and student development, working collaboratively with the Business Development Manager who\u2019s priority is the administrative needs of the school as well as finance, and non-academic matters. The Head Teacher will ensure effective implementation of the school\u2019s hybrid Zambian and Cambridge curriculum, teacher performance management, and the enrichment of student learning through co-curricular activities.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nKey Responsibilities<br \/>\n1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Academic Leadership<\/p>\n<p>Ensure the effective delivery of the Zambian and Cambridge hybrid curriculum, fostering engaging, student-centred, and high-quality teaching across all subjects.<br \/>\nEnsure high-quality teaching and learning by:<\/p>\n<p>Conducting weekly checks of lesson plans.<br \/>\nUndertaking termly lesson observations with constructive feedback and follow-up support.<\/p>\n<p>Monitor student progress, assessment, and reporting in line with both Zambian and Cambridge standards.<br \/>\nLead academic planning, ensuring alignment between curriculum, teaching, and student outcomes.<\/p>\n<p>2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Staff Development and Performance<\/p>\n<p>Provide clear professional expectations and accountability through a robust teacher performance review system.<br \/>\nMentor, coach, and support teachers to strengthen instructional practice and classroom management.<br \/>\nIdentify, design and deliver Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programmes tailored to staff needs.<\/p>\n<p>3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Student Achievement and Enrichment<\/p>\n<p>Promote academic excellence, personal development, and well-being for all students<br \/>\nManage extra-curricular activities and school trips, ensuring they are safe, enriching, and aligned with the school\u2019s vision.<br \/>\nEncourage holistic education through clubs, cultural programmes, and student leadership initiatives.<\/p>\n<p>4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Academic Administration<\/p>\n<p>Oversee the preparation, administration, and compliance of all internal and external examinations.<br \/>\nMaintain accurate academic records and provide performance reports to the Board, parents, and other stakeholders.<br \/>\nEnsure compliance with Ministry of Education regulations, Cambridge International standards, and any inspection frameworks.<\/p>\n<p>5.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Collaboration and School Development<\/p>\n<p>Work closely with the Business Development Manager to align academic priorities with school growth, sustainability, and community engagement.<br \/>\nFoster strong relationships with parents, guardians, and the wider community to support student learning.<br \/>\nRaising the profile of the school and assisting in fundraising for the school<br \/>\nContribute to the school\u2019s strategic planning and help position it as a leader in hybrid curriculum delivery.<\/p>\n<p>6.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Safeguarding and Child Protection<\/p>\n<p>Serve as the school\u2019s Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), ensuring that safeguarding and child protection remain central to all school operations.<br \/>\nEnsure all staff understand and comply with safeguarding policies, and provide regular training and updates.<br \/>\nRespond appropriately to safeguarding concerns, working with the Board and relevant authorities as required.<br \/>\nCreate a culture of safety, respect, and wellbeing, ensuring that the school is a secure environment for all students.<br \/>\nEnsure strong safeguarding, behaviour management, and pastoral systems are in place.<\/p>\n<p>7.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Qualifications and Experience<\/p>\n<p>Bachelor\u2019s degree in Education or equivalent (Master\u2019s degree or leadership qualification preferred).<br \/>\nAt least 7 years of teaching experience, with 3+ years in academic leadership at primary school level.<br \/>\nStrong knowledge of both Zambian and Cambridge curricula.<br \/>\nDemonstrated success in staff performance management, curriculum leadership, and raising student achievement.<br \/>\nExperience overseeing extra-curricular programmes and educational trips.<\/p>\n<p>8.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Skills and Attributes<\/p>\n<p>Visionary, dynamic and inspirational leader with a passion for education.<br \/>\nActs as a positive role model, setting expectations through personal behaviour and practice rather than just direction.<br \/>\nMotivates and influences others by demonstrating commitment, consistency, and accountability in all tasks.<br \/>\nExcellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage staff, students, and parents.<br \/>\nOrganised, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining high standards.<br \/>\nStrong ability to mentor, develop, and evaluate teachers.<br \/>\nDedication to inclusive, student-centred education and whole-child development.<\/p>\n<p>9.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Remuneration<\/p>\n<p>Competitive salary and statutory benefits with scope for growth<\/p>\n<p>Sharing is Caring!
