\nThis position reports to the\u00a0Heavy Equipment Supervisor.\u00a0Successful candidate will be responsible for the below duties.
\nJOB SUMMARY
\nThe Heavy Mine Equipment Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, diagnostics, and troubleshooting of heavy-duty mining equipment used in surface or underground operations. This includes excavators, haul trucks, loaders, dozers, drills, graders, and other mobile or fixed plant equipment. The technician ensures that all equipment is maintained in accordance with safety, reliability, and production standards.
\nResponsibilities<\/p>\n
Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs on heavy mobile mining equipment.
\nTroubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical faults.
\nUse computerized systems (e.g., onboard diagnostics, CMMS) to track and manage maintenance tasks.
\nInterpret technical manuals, schematics, and engineering drawings.
\nReplace or repair faulty components such as engines, transmissions, final drives, suspension, and braking systems.
\nConduct welding and fabrication tasks when required.
\nComplete maintenance records, safety checklists, and job cards accurately and timely.
\nFollow all mine site safety protocols and company policies.
\nCollaborate with operations and engineering teams to optimize equipment performance.
\nParticipate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
\nSupport training and mentoring of junior technicians or apprentices.<\/p>\n
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience<\/p>\n
Diploma in Heavy Duty Mechanic, Diesel Fitter, or equivalent.
\nMinimum 3\u20135 years of experience maintaining heavy mining or construction equipment.
\nProficiency in servicing major OEMs (e.g., Caterpillar, Komatsu, Hitachi, Liebherr, Sandvik).
\nFamiliarity with hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and diagnostic software.
\nValid driver\u2019s license; heavy vehicle or equipment licenses may be required.
\nStrong commitment to safety, teamwork, and continuous learning.
\nKnowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
\nOEM certifications or advanced diagnostics training.
\nHigh-Risk Work Licenses (e.g., forklift, EWP, rigging, dogging).
\nWelding and fabrication certifications.
\nExperience with autonomous or semi-autonomous mining systems (if applicable).<\/p>\n
