\nThe Management Accountant is responsible for delivering accurate and timely financial and management reports, tracking and controlling production costs, preparing and monitoring budgets, and analyzing financial performance within the beef processing company. The role also includes ensuring the integrity of production costing, managing fixed assets, and supporting business decision-making through financial analysis and variance reporting. The Management Accountant plays a key role in maintaining the financial health and operational efficiency of the company.

\nKey Responsibilities:
\n1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Management Accounting and Reporting:<\/p>\n
Prepare accurate management accounting reports, including financial statements and production cost analyses.
\nTrack weekly production variances and post them in Sage, ensuring proper documentation and reconciliation.
\nPrepare and present weekly production variance reports to management, highlighting key insights and financial impacts.<\/p>\n
2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Budgeting and Expenditure Tracking:<\/p>\n
Lead the preparation of annual budgets, collaborating with relevant departments to ensure accurate projections.
\nMonitor monthly expenditures against the budget, highlighting any variances and providing recommendations for corrective action.
\nProvide monthly financial forecasts and assist in the re-forecasting process when necessary.<\/p>\n
3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Production Costing:<\/p>\n
Monitor and control production costs to ensure alignment with budgets and financial targets.
\nPerform cost analysis for production processes, identifying areas for cost savings and process improvement.
\nEnsure accurate costing for products and services, including raw materials, labor, and overhead costs.<\/p>\n
4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Fixed Asset Management:<\/p>\n
Manage the company\u2019s fixed asset register, ensuring accurate tracking of asset acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation.
\nEnsure compliance with company policies for the capitalization of assets and perform regular audits of fixed assets.<\/p>\n
5.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Operational Expenditure (Opex) Control:<\/p>\n
Track all operational expenditures (Opex) and ensure they align with budgeted levels.
\nIdentify areas of overspending and work with department heads to mitigate excess costs.<\/p>\n
6.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Stock and Inventory Control:<\/p>\n
Review all stock-on-hand reports weekly and verify stock movement reports to ensure accuracy.
\nPost all stock movements in the company\u2019s ERP system, ensuring proper reconciliation with production and sales records.
\nConduct periodic stock counts and audits to ensure accuracy and compliance with company procedures.<\/p>\n
7.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Business Opportunity Assessment:<\/p>\n
Analyze business opportunities and new product developments from a financial perspective, providing recommendations to management on potential profitability.
\nSupport management in pricing reviews, ensuring prices reflect production costs, market conditions, and profitability targets.<\/p>\n
8.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0ERP and Financial System Management:<\/p>\n
Ensure the timely and accurate posting of all financial transactions related to production, stock, and variances in the ERP system (e.g. Sage).
\nCollaborate with IT and finance teams to enhance the use of ERP systems for better financial reporting and control.<\/p>\n
9.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Financial Analysis:<\/p>\n
Conduct detailed financial analysis and provide insights to management for decision-making.
\nAnalyze financial data and identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
\nDevelop and maintain financial metrics and KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) to track performance.<\/p>\n
Qualifications & Requirements<\/p>\n
Full ACCA, CIMA, CA Zambia, or a related qualification.
\nMinimum of 5 years of work experience as a Senior Accountant or Management Accountant in a reputable organization (preferably in the Meat industry or similar sectors).
\nStrong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting.
\nProven experience in financial analysis and providing management with strategic insights.
\nExcellent understanding of financial systems, with proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
\nStrong leadership and team management skills.
\nAbility to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
\nExceptional communication skills with the ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels.
\nHigh attention to detail, accuracy, and problem-solving abilities.<\/p>\n

Ensure all management accounts and financial reports are prepared on time, with a high level of accuracy.<\/p>\n

Achieve optimal cash flow, ensuring liquidity to meet operational needs.<\/p>\n

Audit Compliance:<\/p>\n
Successfully pass internal and external audits with minimal adjustments or corrections.<\/p>\n

Provide strategic insights and financial advice that influence key business decisions and profitability.<\/p>\n
Staff Development:<\/p>\n
Demonstrate effective leadership and development of junior accounting staff, including successful training programs and staff retention.<\/p>\n
