\nPosition Summary
\nOur client is seeking a dynamic and results-oriented\u00a0Production & Operations Manager\u00a0to lead and optimize all operational activities across our Lusaka-based business units \u2014 with a strong emphasis on\u00a0factory oversight\u00a0and\u00a0facilities management. This leadership role is responsible for\u00a0managing end-to-end factory operations, production efficiency, quality assurance, resource planning, facilities maintenance, and safety compliance.
\nThe ideal candidate will bring proven experience in factory operations management, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams, drive productivity, manage logistics, and align factory output with broader business objectives. This role is suited to a strategic, hands-on leader who thrives in fast-paced, service-oriented environments \u2014 particularly within industrial, automotive, or technical production sectors.
\nKey Responsibilities
\n1. Factory & Production Oversight
\nOversee the day-to-day operations of the factory, including production planning, scheduling, and output management.
\nEnsure production targets are achieved efficiently, cost-effectively, and to established quality standards.<\/p>\n
Implement & monitor factory KPIs, identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies, and implement process improvements.
\nAdhere to daily & monthly production & material consumption reporting cadence and action deviations accordingly.<\/p>\n
Enforce workplace safety protocols, maintenance schedules, and compliance with statutory regulations.
\n2. Facilities Management & Maintenance
\nManage all aspects of facilities maintenance to ensure factory, warehouse, and office premises are safe, functional, compliant & properly maintained.
\nCoordinate with maintenance teams and external contractors to schedule preventive maintenance and repairs.<\/p>\n
Oversee utilities management and infrastructure upkeep to minimize operational disruptions.
\n3. General Operational Leadership
\nCoordinate operations across multiple departments, including workshop services, logistics, warehousing, and administration.
\nDevelop and implement standardized operating procedures to ensure consistency and scalability.
\nDrive performance through data-backed decision-making and ongoing process optimization.
\n4. Stock Truck Inventory & Logistics Management
\nOversee stock truck inventory, including tracking, maintenance schedules, and availability for operational needs.
\nManage logistics activities related to stock trucks, ensuring timely and cost-effective movement of trucks from port to warehouse and from warehouse to customer. Drive the registration process for newly sold trucks.
\nCoordinate with transport and logistics teams to optimize vehicle deployment and reduce downtime.
\n5. Warehouse Operations Support
\nAssist warehouse teams with day-to-day operations to ensure efficient receiving, storage, and dispatch of materials.
\nCollaborate on inventory accuracy, space utilization, and stock movement processes.
\nSupport continuous improvement initiatives within warehouse operations.
\n6. Team & People Management
\nLead, mentor, and develop production, operational, and maintenance teams to achieve high performance and accountability.
\nFoster a culture of safety, discipline, ownership, and teamwork across all operational units.
\nOversee workforce planning, training programs, recruitment, and performance evaluations.
\n7. Supply Chain & Inventory Oversight
\nManage inventory control, raw material planning, and procurement activities to support uninterrupted production.
\nCollaborate with procurement and vendor teams to optimize supply lead times and material availability.
\nEnsure inventory accuracy, minimize waste, and support effective working capital management.
\nEnsure all factory waste and unused material is disposed of correctly, according to agreed procedures and ensure compliance to environmental standards.
\n8. Quality Control & Compliance
\nImplement and enforce quality control systems across factory and field operations.
\nEnsure full compliance with occupational health, safety, and environmental standards.
\nLead audits, manage incident investigations, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
\n9. Budgeting & Cost Control
\nAssist in the preparation and management of factory and operational budgets.
\nMonitor and report on cost performance, identifying opportunities for savings and efficiency.
\nProvide regular updates to senior leadership on factory output, profitability, and resource utilization.
\n10. Customer Service & Stakeholder Collaboration
\nCollaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure production meets customer expectations.
\nGuarantee factory outputs align with service quality benchmarks and delivery timelines.
\nSupport business development efforts by coordinating operational inputs for new projects or contracts.

\nTechnical Skills & Experience
\n5\u20137 years of experience in operations management, including at least 3 years in a factory or industrial production environment.
\nProven ability to manage factory workflows, teams, equipment, and output.
\nExperience in facilities management and maintenance coordination.
\nSolid track record in process optimization, efficiency tracking, and workforce leadership.
\nStrong knowledge of stock truck inventory management and logistics coordination.
\nExperience supporting warehouse operations.
\nIn-depth understanding of inventory control, supply chain coordination, and production scheduling.
\nProficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and familiar with ERP or operational systems.
\nBachelor\u2019s degree in Operations Management, Engineering, Production Management highly advantageous.
\nValid driver\u2019s license required.
\nAdditional Requirements
